"Manchester United went back to being more methodical in last week's draw with Chelsea. United got their full-backs forward well at Stamford Bridge but you would not describe them as having played free-flowing football.

"I don't think we will see too much of that from either side at the Stadium of Light, but I would still back United to come out on top."

The aptly-named Donald Love is named among the substitutes for Manchester United on Valentine's weekend.

The 21-year-old defender, from Rochdale, has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League club but has had experience out on loan at Wigan. 

Meanwhile, opponents Sunderland have named George Honeyman on the bench. The midfielder is a member of the Black Cats' under-21 squad.

Sunderland make two enforced changes from their 2-2 draw with Liverpool - Billy Jones and Duncan Watmore both miss out, so DeAndre Yedlin and Dame N'Doye come in.

Winger Adam Johnson, who scored as a substitute in their Anfield draw, was sacked by the club on Thursday after pleading guilty to sex offences.

A glance at the bottom of the Premier League shows how badly Sam Allardyce's side need their first win over Manchester United at the Stadium of Light - the Black Cats are 19th, four points adrift of safety with 13 games to go.

At the other end of the table, United also have ground to make up. They are fifth - six points behind neighbours Manchester City in fourth - but all four teams above them play each other on Sunday so Loiuis van Gaal's side have a great opportunity to gain some ground.

Sunderland were playing at Roker Park and Eric Cantona was strutting his stuff the last time the Black Cats defeated Manchester United at home in March 1997...Michael Gray and John Mullin on the scoresheet as the hosts won 2-1.
