    Tony Brown
Former West Brom striker on BBC WM 96.5

“Everton are trying to pull Albion all over the park, trying to create holes but West Brom have kept their shape and their discipline. They’ve got to keep that up for 90 minutes.”

  2. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

James McCarthy snatches at a shot from the edge of the area which dribbles wide. West Brom will be happy with that.

Everton are not going to score today, are they?

Former West Brom striker on BBC WM 96.5

“West Brom have been really compact so far in the second half they are restricting Everton to long range shots and that has nullified Romelu Lukaku’s ability to run into space. Albion have been rock solid so far.”

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

Clearest booking you'll see all season.

Saido Berahino threatened to break clear for West Brom and Everton midfielder Gareth Barry came across to stop him in his tracks.

No desire to get the ball there, just had his eyes on his man...and nailed him.

  5. CLOSE!published at 62 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

Having not finished off their chances at one end, Everton almost get the sucker punch of conceding a second.

West Brom break quickly and the hard-working Salomon Rondon holds the ball before feeding Chris Brunt inside the area, but the Northern Irishman's low shot goes wide of goal.

  6. CLOSE!published at 60 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

It's not happening for Everton. They're working hard to try and find a way through the resolute West Brom defence and are having to resort to shots from outside the box.

This time Gareth Barry shoots narrowly over - 21 shots and counting.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

Everton change. Midfielder Tom Cleverley off, striker Arouna Kone on.

More fire-power for the home side and they need it. He's got more than half an hour to save this game.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 57 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

And with Tony Pulis knowing his man James McClean is walking a tightrope, he gets taken off.

Chris Brunt is the player sent on.

  9. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

    Careful James McClean.

Having been given a yellow card only minutes earlier, he hangs out a leg and brings down the tricky Aaron Lennon.

West Brom happy to sit at the edge of their area. This time James McCarthy's shot is weak and Ben Foster can claim that all day long.

  10. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

"Everton, Everton, Evertonnnn..." scream the home crowd, trying to bring their team to life. There's not been much flow to the game in the second half, and the scrappy play will suit West Brom who still lead.

After some intricate play, Seamus Coleman's left-footed shot is no trouble for Ben Foster, who gathers with ease.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 51 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

Two bookings in as many minutes for West Brom. This time it's James McClean who goes into the referee's notepad for chopping down Seamus Coleman who was marauding forward.

    A clever foul.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 50 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

West Brom skipper Darren Fletcher booked as the referee feels there is some time-wasting going on.

The former Manchester United man can't quite believe it, neither can I.

  13. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

West Brom's Claudio Yacob can't quite believe he has been pulled up for a foul on James McCarthy. Have to be honest, there didn't look much contact in that challenge.

Everton can't capitalise from the free-kick though, as the away side manage to clear the ball.

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

Everton back on it, they had 75% possession in the first half and are starting the second period in the same manner.

Seamus Coleman's shot from outside the area comes off his own man Romelu Lukaku and rolls wide for a goal-kick. Another effort, another off target.

West Brom get us up-and-running at Goodison Park. No changes.

    Tony Brown

“Everton are having a purple patch firing in shots, but what West Brom are doing well is putting their bodies in the way and doing what they have to do to keep the ball out.”

  17. Postpublished at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2016

    Everton 0-1 West Brom

You can see how deep West Brom were in that first half, but they've held out on the Everton barrage at goal.

The Toffees had 14 shots in the opening period, but just two on target.

You can see Jonas Olsson (3) has been camped almost on the edge of his own box and making five blocks and eight clearances shows why.

And West Brom take a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Everton have hit the post twice. It has been a really exciting opening 45 minutes at Goodison Park.

More of the same in the second, please.

...goodness me, Bryan Oviedo does know how to swing a dangerous corner in, no 'hitting the first man' nonsense with him.

This time it goes all the way back to the far post, but Romelu Lukaku can't get his body in a position to get a shot away.
