This display from Liverpool is far more like the one at the Etihad than at Wembley. There is a confidence to their play, provided by a scoreline that has given them complete control on the game. City look shot. And they are making another change...

    Liverpool 2-0 Man City

Liverpool still look the more hungry side, which is startling when you consider that City are the side with title aspirations.

    Liverpool 2-0 Man City

It was nearly game over. Divock Origi finds space in the box and fires a low shot from an angle that Joe Hart parries into space before City clear. Had another Liverpool man gambled, he would have had an easy finish into an empty net.

"Players will be thinking I might not be here next year or this manager won’t be here so we don’t need to play for him. The new manager announcement might have unsettled City."

Liverpool have only had two touches of the ball in the City box. One of those is James Milner's goal. One of the spots below, somewhere between the edge of the City box and the halfway line is Lallana's strike.

Great defending from Jon Flanagan prevents Raheem Sterling's pass reaching Sergio Aguero in the box.

Soon after, Aguero's header inside the box from a David Silva free-kick is blocked near the line by James Milner. Two crucial interventions.

    James Milner

It's two! James Milner against his former club! And it is a quality goal as well. Roberto Firmino cuts in from the right and plays an inch-perfect pass into the feet of Milner, who takes one touch before poking the ball past the onrushing Hart. City are in big trouble now. Are we watching their title bid collapse?

    Adam Lallana

Whoa! Where did that come from?! Adam Lallana is allowed loads of space to pick up the ball in the City half, turn and almost saunter towards the box before firing a low (and not hugely powerful) left-footed shot that finds the bottom corner of Joe Hart's goal. Even Jurgen Klopp looks a bit confused as to how that managed to sneak in. Not that he's complaining.

Raheem Sterling has his first effort on goal - a curling shot from 25 yards out. The cheers from the home crowd are enough to tell you it didn't go according to plan. Mignolet is able to wave it by.

    Liverpool 0-0 Man City

City finally pose a threat to the Liverpool goal as Jesus Navas' low cross from an angle on the right beats Simon Mignolet but is too far ahead of Sergio Aguero to give the striker a chance of scoring.
