So, Bayern Munich begin the second half of the season the way they ended the first half - with a win. It wasn't vintage Bayern but they are now 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich's players are still out on the pitch applauding their travelling fans in the way winning German teams do at the end of games. One worry for Pep Guardiola will be the injury to defender Jerome Boateng. Potentially bad news with Juventus looming in the Champions League next month.

That's 16 wins from 18 league games for Pep Guardiola's side. Their next match? Bottom club Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena on 31 January.

Xabi Alonso is caught on the back of the head by Nicolai Muller's high boot. It leaves Alonso wincing in pain. Bayern are happy to eat up a few more seconds.

This has been a rusty display by Bayern lacking the fluency of many of their performances in the first half of the campaign. Nevertheless Pep Guardiola's side are three minutes plus stoppage time away from three crucial points as they target a domestic and European treble.

Anxious times for Bayern as Xabi Alonso brings down Hamburg's Artjoms Rudnevs right on the edge of the penalty area. It's a yellow card for the midfielder. Hamburg's free-kick is awful.

Thiago goes close with another deflected effort which Rene Adler knew little about. Bayern make another change - Arjen Robben is on for the final few minutes in place of Douglas Costa.

One small consolation for Hamburg is they have not made it comfortable for Bayern - too often in recent meetings between these two Bayern have won far too easily.

Fifteen minutes remaining. Hamburg win a free-kick in a similar position to where they scored from but Manuel Neuer isn't going to get beaten this time and is alert to Aaron Hunt's free-kick.

Will Robert Lewandowski be following Pep Guardiola to the Premier League? He's a fantastic talent and he's knocking on the door for a hat-trick against Hamburg. He's just volleyed into the side netting but it wouldn't have counted...he was in an offside position. Great acrobatic effort nevertheless.

This game is far from won yet Pep Guardiola brings off Thomas Muller who does not look very impressed as Arturo Vidal comes on.

What a brilliant free-kick by David Alaba who rattles the bar with a curling 25 yard free-kick. A terrific piece of skill by the 23-year-old. Hamburg are so fortunate not to be further behind.

Robert Lewandowski hat-trick in the first game after the winter break? He's still got more than 25 minutes to find another.

Bayern Munich are back in business...and so too Robert Lewandowski. The striker is in the right place in front of the Hamburg net to deflect Thomas Muller's 25 yard attempt into the net. And all this after Bayern's Jerome Boateng is forced off injured.

This has been a scruffy performance by Bayern. Xabi Alonso was at fault for the goal and there are suggestions the former Liverpool man might have got the last touch before the ball ended up in the net.

It's been all Bayern this half but out of nowhere Hamburg get themselves back on level terms. The hosts win a free-kick about 35 yard out and Bayern fail to deal with Aaron Hunt's ball into the area which evades everyone yet somehow ends up in the back of the net.
