Hearts make their final change as Juanma replaces Osman Sow. Bit of a strange one since the departing striker is much the quicker of the two and maybe better suited to the counter-attack.

"Hamilton keep probing for openings - with Ali Crawford's range of passing proving key - but Hearts are strong and confident defending their lines. The game ha lost its tousy edge, but quality has not stepped into the breach. It remains generally scrappy and hard-fought."

Another Hamilton corner. Correct this time. More frantic Hearts defending. Osman Sow then sprints the length of the pitch but none of his team-mates can keep up with the striker.

When I say controversial, I mean plain wrong. Not even close.

Neil Alexander does brilliantly to claw away a header from Michael Devlin as Hearts hang on by their fingernails from a corner. However, the keeper is harshly denied a "great save" graphic since there were a couple of Accies players in offside positions.

The award of the corner was controversial since Alexander had clearly kept a defensive header in play.

Now Hearts break and Osman Sow goes to ground under a sliding challenge from Michael Devlin. Bobby Madden infuriates the away fans further by suggesting the big striker was up to a spot of simulation and it looks like the referee has got that spot on.

Hamilton are building up a head of steam here as Darren Lyon drives a dangerous ball across the face of goal and Callum Paterson does well to steer it out for a corner.

Dougie Imrie scampers after a long ball over the top from Ali Crawford but he's flagged offside as he reaches the edge of the penalty box.

Hamilton's Dougie Imrie has a pop at goal from the right corner of the penalty area but his shot slides wide of the near post.

Hearts are dropping deep, making it hard for Accies to find any room to create a path forward but it means home playmaker Ali Crawford is getting more time on the ball to come up with something crafty.

BBC Radio Scotland's trackside man Charlie Mann says senior members of Hearts' coaching set-up have studied the ordering off on their laptops and they are satisfied that the red card was correct.

The ball breaks to Ali Crawfrord on the edge of the Hearts penalty box but his shot is wild, flying high and wide.

We're up and running again. Can Hamilton make their extra man count?

Both teams are busy with substitutions, with Hearts bringing on Dario Zanatta for Billy King.

Darian Mackinnon and Lucas Tagliapietra are off for Hamilton with Greg Docherty and Jesus Garcia-Tena coming on.

Igor Rossi's red card challenge sparked a heated scuffle, with referee Bobby Madden right in amongst it

Hearts had Callum Paterson sent off when they lost 3-2 here in August. That dismissal was rescinded following an appeal against the decision. I don't think there's any chance of Igor Rossi avoiding a suspension for today's violent tackle.

St Mirren defender Jim Goodwin, something of a red card expert, is part of the BBC Radio Scotland commentary team and describes the ordering off as "a no-brainer".

"This game began as a test of Hamilton's character, it is now an examination of Hearts' nerve. They were rattled after being reused to 10 men and need to regroup during the interval. Hamilton, meanwhile, need a shift in mindset to try to take advantage of their extra man and play more progressively. Bobby Madden, the referee, has handled a difficult encounter very well."

    Hamilton 0-0 Hearts

Boos ring out from the away end as Hearts leave the park with 10 men. Michael McGovern has been the busier keeper but Hamilton will be pleased with their effort and will fancy their chances with an advantage in personnel after the break.

We'll get three minutes of stoppage time following the red card-related melee.
