"Benteke was very quiet for the first 15-20 minutes but he has come into it a bit now. The defender getting his body in the way keeps Benteke from getting that but there was nothing in it."

It's really, really nice stuff from Liverpool with Benteke again just missing out, this time when put through by Teixeira. There's just a bit too much shoe on the pass.

And again! Benteke goes in to attack a free-kick and perhaps should have done better. Lovely delivery from Cameron Brannagan, Benteke wrestling with a defender, but gets nothing on it when a slight touch could have taken it past Darren Randolph.

Arfon Evans, North Wales: Sad to see a great club like Liverpool disrespecting the FA Cup with 10 changes, total lack of respect.

Mark: Liverpool's first team played 120 mins on Tuesday and play Leicester on Tuesday night. With current injuries he's got to rest players.

Off the line? From the corner, Aaron Cresswell, the man at the back post has to clear. Would it have gone in? Not sure, but this young Liverpool side have come to life.

This is better from Liverpool, Jordan Ibe playing a lovely one-two with Joao Teixeira as Liverpool come down the left. Winston Reid has to concede a corner...

numeroochoo: Can someone tell the Liverpool players we play in red!? How many times have we given the ball away in first 15 mins?

I'll be honest, it's not the best game so far. In fact, bar that cheeky Payet free-kick, it's been ruddy awful. So far, hope of a repeat of that 2006 final is fanciful.

One set of fans is telling the other that their support isn't very good. But in a ruder way. More confusion in the Liverpool box, this time as Dejan Lovren fails to deal with a bouncing ball.

"It has not really settled into a pattern yet, that sometimes happens when it is really cold like it is tonight because everyone is running at 100mph just to keep warm."

I've been neglecting to put the score at the top of my entries. Apologies. It's still goalless and there have been no clear chances to speak of. Enner Valencia tries to cause some hassle in the Liverpool box, but ends up on his backside and giving a foul away.

Gaz: Klopp will get stick but I'll wager his starting XI cost more than West Ham's today.

Luke: Someone needs to tell Klopp that the FA Cup is the cup top teams want. Not the League Cup. Think he has the two mixed up.

Ooofff! Do not take your eyes off Dimitri Payet. Free-kick from miles out, to the right of the Liverpool box. Everyone expects a cross, but Payet tries to catch out Simon Mignolet, Thierry Henry-style. A cheeky curler hits the outside of the post. Mignolet gestures to suggest he had it covered.

Adam Lallana, complete with youngster, James Milner and Jordan Handerson all watch on. All look cold and miserable. A West Ham surge through the middle calls for Steven Caulker to take action.

Caulker to Liverpool. Where does that rank in the most surprising moves of this January? I bet even he was surprised.

"At the moment Liverpool do not seem to be showing a lack of fear, or a lack of willingness to get forward. Cameron Brannagan and Joao Teixeira are both wanting to get on the ball."

  16. Postpublished at 7 mins

My word that's a bad corner, with West Ham almost being caught on the break. When it bobbles loose, Cameron Brannagan has a dip from distance, but it lands in the Mersey.

Liverpool, as ever, are in all red, attacking right to left, away from the Kop, as we watch on. West Ham are all in a dark colour. Is it black, or a very, very dark blue? If you ever watched Father Ted, you'll know that only priests wear black. Everyone else wears very, very dark blue. Corner to West Ham...

Nixon: Klopp's solution to fixture congestion: field a team that at best will earn a replay.

Hassan, London: All this talk about the weakened team, why would he field his strongest? We can still finish fourth, have a shot at a good run in the Europa, both of those take precedence over the FA Cup I'm sorry. Klopp has the team spot on.

  19. Postpublished at 3 mins

It's decent from Liverpool, with Brad Smith whipping in a cross that's just to high. Another ball in from Cameron Brannagan has to be dealt with by the West Ham defence.

Jurgen Klopp, who looks like he's had a haircut, sits behind a scarf with his arms folded. Slaven Bilic has a suit and a wolly hat. That's it. Early corner for Liverpool.
