    Stoke 1-2 Southampton

Southampton had their deckchairs and cigars out earlier - they had their feet up and were comfortable.

    Not so much now.

Stoke are turning up the heat and look like getting a second, but not if Ibrahim Afellay keeps shooting from 30 yards out.

  3. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Stoke 1-2 Southampton

Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross hasn't played football for eight weeks and shows signs he has forgotten how to play.

The Englishman concedes a corner with a wayward clearance, but will be thankful Southampton cannot take advantage from the set-piece.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 59 mins

    Stoke 1-2 Southampton

Marko Arnautovic is like Rambo at the moment, he's on a one-man mission to take out Southampton.

Having scored one already, he almost gets a second, but his left-footed drive is pushed away well by Fraser Forster, forced into his first save.

Really good game now and more goals will follow.

"Big moments, in big games, that is where the big players turn up. Marko Arnautovic has and I am sure others now will too. Southampton are holding on from almost going 3-0 up."

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

Now Southampton are up against it.

2-0 is very much a dangerous scoreline and you can see why.

Stoke pull a goal back and now look like a team who can get a second, forcing Saints defender Virgil van Dijk into a hasty clearance.

The roar of the home supporters is deafening.

    Marko Arnautovic (52 mins)

    Game on.

Stoke needed to score early in the second period to get back into the game and do just that.

Marko Arnautovic is the man on target, finishing off a lovely move my flicking in at the near post from Ibrahim Afellay's cross.

That's brought the Britannia to life.

A penny for Dusan Tadic's thoughts after that missed chance late in the first half.

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

Southampton look dangerous every time they go forward and Stoke are panicking at the back, you wouldn't expect that of a Potters side, especially with Ryan Shawcross the main man marshaling the back line.

"What Sparky will have said is 'defend properly and we certainly need to get the next goal and then we are back in the game'.

"They have a fantastic crowd behind them and if they do get the next goal they are right back in the game."

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 47 mins

Jordy Clasie slides in and chops Stoke left-back Erik Pieters on the charge and is the first man to go into Lee Mason's book.

Tim Little: Each time Stoke look like going on a decent run we put in a performance like this. So frustrating!

Ben Stephenson: Graziano Pelle definitely only likes warm weather.

Southampton ahead and should have already had the points in the bag but for Dusan Tadic's terrible miss late in the first half.

  18. SHOWBOATpublished at 45+2 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

    Shoot man, SHOOT!

Southampton break clear and can end the game as Shane Long plays in Dusan Tadic inside the area.

The Serbian does brilliantly, turning to put defender Ryan Shawcross and goalkeeper Jack Butland on their backsides, and with a free goal to aim at from seven yards out, he takes too much time and Philipp Wollscheid can track back to nick the ball.

Will the Saints come to rue that missed opportunity?
