    Stoke 0-0 Southampton

Southampton's away kit is going to cause me all sorts of problems today. Their lush green kit is getting lost in the lush green grass.

No problems spotting Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula, who makes a powerful run forward from midfield, but strangles his left-footed strike wide of goal.

  2. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

Stoke, playing from left to right, start their engines and get us going at the Britannia Stadium.

"In his first two seasons in charge of Stoke, Mark Hughes initially guided them to a first ever Premier League top-10 finish and then last year to their highest ever points total.

"The Potters target this time around is therefore clear - to better last year's club record 54-point haul. Put simply, that equates to 12 points from their last nine games. Hughes believes that in doing so they could make this a very special 12 months in the club's history.

"Only promoted in 2012, Southampton have since finished 14th, eighth and, last year, seventh. Like Stoke, they've become an established member of the game's elite, with a potential first ever Premier League top-six finish within their sights.

"Currently eighth and ninth respectively, this fixture could well be pivotal in determining who ultimately achieves their goals."

  5. Manager's viewpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Stoke v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman: "We are in good shape. We need to be good today because Stoke away is always a tough place to come. If we are good enough today, we hope to get a good result.

"Today marks the rest of the season, we are getting closer so today is very important.

"We worked hard this week after getting a point against Sunderland but both the teams are strong and the details will make the difference."

  6. Manager's viewpublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Stoke v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

Stoke boss Mark Hughes: "The skipper Ryan Shawcross has looked good in training, looked strong and is ready to come back in.

"We played really well last week against Chelsea. Southampton are a good team and it won't be an easy game for us.

"You need to beat the teams in and around you. Southampton today, Watford next so we want to put distance between us and them"

Both of the managers weren't too bad at football back in '80s/'90s and scored some spectacular goals.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes netted some sensational overhead kicks, while free-kick specialist Ronald Koeman bagged some beauties in his career.

Check this, Dutchman Koeman was a defender by trade, but scored 253 goals for club and country., external TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THREE!

In the 1987-88 season alone, he plundered 26 goals for PSV. Mindboggling numbers which Graziano Pelle can only dream of.

    BBC football expert

These two teams have had quite similar seasons in the way they always seem to be on a very good or very bad run of results.

Stoke, who have taken 10 points from their past four games and drew at Chelsea last time out, appear to be in form.

Southampton, who have managed only one point from their past three matches and nicked a point late on at home to Sunderland last weekend, do not.

Some extra back stretches going on for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross in the warm up. Hasn't played for eight games because of injury so will need to give it a proper work out.

Looks like he has applied plenty of sticky tape to it and it's holding up quite well...for now.

    Premier League table

These two sides lie eighth and ninth in the Premier League table respectively, and you would say have had decent seasons.

But, looking at this term's surprise leaders Leicester, should they have actually been pushing for a top four-spot? Both spent a fair amount of money in the transfer market.

A win for either side today though, and they are right in with a shout of a fifth-placed finish which they would have gladly taken at the start of the season.

  20. Breaking team newspublished at 14:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

Big news for Stoke, who have Ryan Shawcross back in the starting line-up after a back injury which has kept him out for eight games. A great boost for the hosts.

    Full team news to come.
