    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

Philipp Wollscheid has never scored for Stoke and you can see why.

The German attempts an effort from 30 yards out which ends up in the stand behind Fraser Forster.

Zero, zilch on target for Stoke so far, boss Mark Hughes on the touchline is seething.

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

One of those moments when you see a long-range strike on first glance which you think is heading for the net.

The ball drops invitingly...AND IT'S ORIOL ROMEUUUUUUU.

Jack Butland doesn't flinch as the Spaniard's speculative shot flies wide.

    As you were.

David Ljunggren: This is an appallingly sloppy and lazy performance by Stoke. They look as though they're on holiday already.

Matt Ingram: Fantastic second goal #marchinguptheleague #saintsfc

"He has outmuscled Geoff Cameron and Graziano Pelle is not renowned for his pace but Cameron has let him run, then it is a great finish."

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

Stoke get a free-kick around 35 yards out. Referee Lee Mason sprays his line but the Southampton players are not happy with it and stand two yards in front.

    "Get back," shouts Mason.

After all those shenanigans, Marko Arnautovic curls his effort wide of goal.

The wheelie bin in the Saints goal, also known as Fraser Forster, remains untroubled.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 32 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Southampton

Bad to worse for Stoke. Xherdan Shaqiri wasn't looking comfortable and is taken off, Bojan replaces him. Can the Spaniard turn the game around?

  7. goal

GOAL - Stoke 0-2 Southamptonpublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Graziano Pelle (29 mins)

Hasn't scored since November, now two in a game.

Not the best goalkeeping, you have to say, but Southampton won't mind.

Playmaker Dusan Tadic, not the biggest of players, does all the hard work, holding off Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross before playing Graziano Pelle into the box.

The Italian takes his time and rolls in a composed finish, low into the net. It was well within the reach of Jack Butland though, who seemed to get his dive wrong.

    Stoke 0-1 Southampton

Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula misplaces his first pass of the match which was meant for his left-back.

The move "Pieters" out. Get it? Thank you. 😂😂

How have Stoke reacted to falling behind? Not the best, to be honest. Fraser Forster has still not had a save to make.

    Stoke 0-1 Southampton

Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula is the man trying to run the show. Most touches (24) so far and a 100% passing accuracy from 16 efforts.

You can see why the Potters shelled out a club record £18.3m for the player.

    Stoke 0-1 Southampton

Southampton sitting deep when Stoke have the ball in midfield and they're coping well with that tactic.

Glenn Whelan, on his 300th Stoke appearance, puts a cross in from the right which Mame Biram Diouf has to stoop to get his head on, but the ball sails over the crossbar.

Cuco Martina must have muscles made of elastic. The Southampton full-back does a little stretch on the sideline and runs back on.

Most of us would be laid up in bed for a week if that happened to us.

Anyway, no further chances and Stoke haven't troubled the big, mean Fraser Forster yet. Wouldn't want to run into him in a dark alley.

Southampton full-back Cuco Martina in a bit of trouble here. He slips while in control of the ball and does the splits. I've got tears in my eyes just watching it. Can he continue?

  15. CLOSE!published at 15 mins

    Stoke 0-1 Southampton

Southampton carve Stoke open with one ball forward and almost double their advantage.

Shane Long races clear and his thunderous low strike is pushed away by Jack Butland.

I make that the Stoke goalkeeper's 100th Premier League save of the season.

"Brilliant header for the goal and it was Graziano Pelle who won the corner. It was a brilliant save from Butland to force the corner.

"Pelle attacks the ball really well, gets above Diouf and the pace of the ball takes it in."

    Graziano Pelle (11 mins)

And from the resulting corner, Southampton get the breakthrough.

Striker Graziano Pelle rises highest at the front post to flick in Steven Davis' corner.

That was against the run of play and the boisterous home supporters have been silenced.

    Stoke 0-0 Southampton

Having weathered the Stoke storm, Southampton gather themselves and force Jack Butland into a fine save from Graziano Pelle's header.

    Corner to the away side...

    Stoke 0-0 Southampton

Stoke playing some tidy football on the deck, with some neat passes as Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Arnautovic and Giannelli Imbula are all involved.

The ball eventually reaches the box, where Southampton fail to clear, but Ibrahim Afellay's shot is blocked.

That's drawn plenty of cheer from the home supporters and rightly so, an excellent passage of play.

    Stoke 0-0 Southampton

Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross gets into the action for the first time, skirting across to jump and clear a long ball forward.

That'll do him nicely, having missed eight games with a back injury.
