    Chelsea 1-2 PSG (Agg: 2-4)

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink: "We gave too much respect in the first 10 minutes, they were dominating. They are a good side but once we stepped up we had some chances. In the 67th minute it all changed. We had a good chance to score, then Diego Costa was injured. We knew he was not totally fit but he desperately wanted to play and scored a beautiful goal.

"You saw the difference between the squads when we had to bring young guys on and they have Edinson Cavani to come in. I must say that we had young Kenedy at left-back and he was excellent.

"It is a difficult season. We we re almost panicking about relegation when I came in but it is difficult to get into fourth place."

  5. 'Not satisfied yet'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

    Chelsea 1-2 PSG (Agg: 2-4)

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic: "I stayed more than 20 minutes on the pitch this year! We did a good game, very stable. We played with lots of patient possession and when we had a chance to strike we scored two goals. We had enough to win the game.

"Overall we played the way we wanted to. It was not easy, you have to watch out. Chelsea's front four are able to do anything. We are doing good things, where we end up we don't know. We are not satisfied yet."

    Chelsea 1-2 PSG (Agg: 2-4)

PSG defender David Luiz: "It was a difficult game for us but we never change our philosophy, we try to play with the ball and create gaps to score. It was a collective vicory. Everyone knows how hard it is to play here. We kept calm and we scored at key moments.

"Diego Costa is a fantastic player and to play against him is very difficult. We try our best to go on and win it. We are ready."

Not only have Chelsea gone out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage for the second successive season, their misery was compounded by injuries to Diego Costa, outstanding against PSG, and Eden Hazard.

Chelsea can now only win the FA Cup and to be without one or both would be a serious setback before Saturday's quarter-final at Everton.

  10. 'Well deserved'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

    Chelsea 1-2 PSG (Agg: 2-4)

PSG winger Angel di Maria:  "We're very happy. It's a huge joy. The work of one season is fruitful tonight. We demonstrated our talent. We controlled the game and the result is well deserved."

  11. What now for Chelsea?published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

A Chelsea fan on 5 live says that they need to sign 'eight players' this summer, while another wants to see some of the 30 players out on loan given a go.

What direction does the club go in now? It's hard to believe this is the same team who were so good for so long in winning the title last year!

PSG was able to rest most of their key players at the weekend having virtually already won the league. Chelsea had a tough game against Stoke. Chelsea paid the price for being in the most competitive league in the world tonight compared to PSG in Europe's fifth league. PSG to be out-classed by Barcelona!

From Matthew, a Chelsea fan in Reims, France.

Chelsea bring on but a kid in Traore and PSG bring on Cavani. Chelsea really failed to build on last year and have massively gone backwards. Huge spend required in the summer if they want to genuinely compete at this level.

A Chelsea fan on BBC radio 5 live says that Eden Hazard looks like he doesn't want to play for Chelsea and should leave the club.

    Martin Keown

"It was such a monumental effort in the first half but they just couldn't replicate it in the second half.

"There was no energy at the start of the second half and once you drop off this PSG side they will punish you.

"I think they're a real outside bet to win this season's Champions League. Any team in Europe will want to avoid PSG, even Barcelona."

Matt Day: PSG are just on another level to Chelsea at the moment. You can't blame the men in blue for that.

Jude: Results over huff and puff football any day. English football is lacking. Is that 4th Champions League spot about to go?
