No Northern Ireland team news yet, as they kick-off at 19:45 BST.

But the man pictured will be hoping for a start and a few minutes of football.

Cult hero Kyle Lafferty contributed seven goals to NI's qualifying campaign, but has played for his club Norwich City just three times this season - although a loan move to Birmingham City could prove useful before the Euros.

There's something very watchable about Laff, a certain maverick element to him. Like Dimitar Berbatov but less Bulgarian.

In other news, Ross Country striker Liam Boyce is out after injuring his hand.

With Gareth Bale's newborn in mind, it's got me wondering if you guys have ever named anything after a footballer?

We called my mum's rusty old Mini Dean, in honour of Dean "Deano" Saunders.

Look at that, we've gone a full 20 minutes without mentioning Gareth Bale.

Wondering where he is? The Real Madrid winger's been absent from the Wales squad for the birth of his second daughter.

    She's called Nava Valentina Bale.

I'd come up with some witty, biting remark of irreverence sending up the celebrity obsession with terrible names. But I think it's actually quite nice.

    Lame, I know.

Other Welsh players who have not been coming up with flamboyant baby names are Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey and Leicester's Andy King. They are both injured, though.

"Defenders Ben Davies and Neil Taylor return from injury, a new midfield trio sees Joe Allen, Emyr Huws and Jonny Williams recalled and Simon Church starts up front. The players to miss out are Adam Matthews, Joe Ledley, David Vaughan, David Cotterill, George Williams and Sam Vokes."

We got an insight into how well prepared these sides are for the Euros on Thursday night.

It's fair to say Chris Coleman and Michael O'Neill tried out a few fringe players in a 1-1 draw, which saw Craig Cathcart open the scoring for the Northern Irish and Simon Church level from the spot.

Wales' last game in a major tournament was a quarter-final against Brazil at the 1958 World Cup - some fella called Pele scored the only goal...

And what a wait it's been.

When Wales open their European Championship campaign against Slovakia on 11 June, they will have ended a 58-year absence from major tournament football.

As for Northern Ireland, their Euros starts against Poland on 12 June - they've only waited 30 years.

That's 88 years between the two nations - but who's counting?

If you hadn't noticed, it's Easter Monday. Which means there are lots of chocolate. And bunnies. And chocolate bunnies.

My dad used to tell me that when he were a lad, he would keep his Easter chocolate for so long most of it would remain unwrapped until the following Christmas.

Unlike my dad, followers of the Welsh and Northern Irish football sides cannot wait to unpeel the wrapper on a sweetly sticky European Championship campaign.

Today is another step towards Euro 2016 in France, as Wales take on Ukraine in Kiev (19:00 BST) and Northern Ireland host Slovenia (19:45 BST) in Belfast.
