That's it for tonight. So what did we learn? If you want goals head to Italy, although Edin Dzeko's miss might be doing the rounds tomorrow.

Oh and Barca have had a very good weekend.

    Good night.

    Roma 5-0 Palermo

Roma's biggest win of the season and they're up to fourth in the table.

Just two points behind Fiorentina, a Champions League place could yet be on the cards.

Serie A certainly came to our rescue tonight.

    Edin Dzeko

A good night for Roma and Dzeko has the perfect finale as the striker heads powerfully home from a Perotti cross. Impressive stuff as Roma chase a Champions League spot.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

So after that, Atletico Madrid nudge ahead of Real Madrid into second and they trail Barcelona by eight points now.

A draw for the Madrid sides and a win for Barcelona this weekend only confirms what many people are already thinking: The title is heading to Catalonia.

All over, neither side deserved more than a point for that. Tame.

  6. Strootman is backpublished at 70 mins

    Roma 4-0 Palermo

A big moment as Kevin Strootman comes on for Roma.

The Dutch international midfielder has been out since January last year with a knee injury.

  7. Postpublished at 90+3 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

Down the other end and it's an opportunity for Villarreal, but Stefan Savic is the man who makes a crucial tackle this time.

  8. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

Ooh here's a chance for Atletico, the onrushing Luciano Vietto is put through on goal, it's a tight angle but as he shapes to shoot Eric Bailly makes a game-saving tackle at the near post. No corner given for some reason.

The corner goes straight into the Keeper's hands from Koke's delivery. I'll say one thing, having watched Malaga versus Real Madrid earlier and this game, all four keepers have been very decent. Three minutes of stoppage time.

  10. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

I say that, but I bet you either of these sides will be more than capable of beating a Premier League team should they need to in their respective European competitions. Atletico win a corner. All up? No.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

If ever a game had a goalless draw written all over it, it's this one. Even worse than the Arsenal-Hull FA Cup tie. At least that had some genuine attempts on goal. I can't remember many in this game which have tested the keeper.

We have a shot on goal. Fernando Torres, who is attempting to score for three games in succession, turns sharply and fires towards goal but it's easily saved.

Another attack, another let down as the attackers near the box. This time it;s Olive Torres who misplaces his pass. I'd be very surprised if we get a goal now.

Both teams have an eye on their European excursions next week.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 82 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

Last change for both teams as Atletico's Matias Kranevitter replaces Saul Niguez. Villarreal's Cedric Bakambu goes off for Leo Baptistao.

Atletico building possession now as Koke delivers from the right. Fernando Torres is in there but he fails to find the touch which would have taken it into the goal.

Another canny finish from the Egyptian international, who now has 10 goals for the season.

It looked as though he had wasted the chance when over-running the ball but from an acute angle he still managed to curl a deft shot into the empty net.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 76 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

The home faithful find their voices, attempting to raise their team. Good chance for Atletico to deliver a cross but Oliver Torres gives it away after being too clever. Villarreal get it down the other end quickly before Denis Suarez has a shot blocked. Good defending, which is the story of this game. Eric Bailly gets a yellow card now.

    Roma 3-0 Palermo

A nice finish from Salah, slotted home on the angle with his left foot after a neat lay-off from Dzeko.

    This could be any score.
