Ohh. A lucky escape for Tottenham?

Nikola Kalinic is released by a raking pass from deep, the Tottenham defence is beaten but the flag goes up.

I reckon he was onside, though.

A Kieran Trippier cross has the sting taken out of it by a defender and deflects into the Fiorentina keeper's hands.

At the other end, substitute Matias Vecino hits a swirling effort from distance that Michel Vorm has to gather at the second attempt.

    Open game now.

"I think what we will see here is where Alonso has advanced from left fullback for Fiorentina, so Chadli will come over and help double mark him and Kane will go into his customary number nine role."

Well, who saw that coming then?

Fiorentina needed to find something from nothing, and they have done just that as Federico Bernardeschi's strike from 25 yards takes a deflection off Ryan Mason and loops up and over Michel Vorm's dive, dropping just under the crossbar and into the net.

    Game on.

"Fiorentina are somewhat devoid of ideas. I have been very, very disappointed. They haven't given any intensity to this game."

Tottenham open Fiorentina up with ease as Mousa Dembele charges forward before spotting space ahead of  Nacer Chadli. Dembele places the ball beautifully into his team-mate's path and Chadli wrong-foots Gonzalo Rodríguez, but his low strike towards the near corner is kept out by Ciprian Tatarusanu.

A few groans of discontent from their home fans. You sense they feel Fiorentina are giving Tottenham too much respect.

    Fiorentina 0-1 Tottenham

Mauro Zarate has been lively for Fiorentina, although his shooting boots have been clearly left by the mantelpiece back home.

In fairness, he doesn't get the chance to test out his radar this time as Kevin Wimmer puts the ball behind for a corner, which Spurs deal with.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 49 mins

    Fiorentina 0-1 Tottenham

Ben Davies is the second Tottenham player to pick up a booking as he is penalised for a foul on Jakub Blaszczykowski.

It may only be the second yellow, but the referee's whistle has been blown plenty of times in this game. Niggly.
