At the other end, Mauro Zarate scoops a shot over from the edge of the area, the ball bouncing a little awkwardly as it came to him just on the edge of the area.

How much space are Fiorentina giving Ben Davies? They have already seen what he can do when he is allowed to get into the area, and the Spurs winger is left all alone when Dele Alli flicks the ball over the defence, Davies swings a cross in but it is just over Christian Eriksen's head.

"An awful long way to go but I do think with what we have seen so far, even with Tottenham not at their best, they carry a reputation now and there are seeds of doubt in the Fiorentina players' heads."  

What will Fiorentina do now? They'd been very mindful of Tottenham's danger on the counter but that goal will surely force them to abandon the cautious approach. 

Could be in for plenty of goals now.

Fiorentina really should be ahead as Josip Ilicic swings the ball into the area and straight to the unmarked Federico Bernardeschi fluffs his volley, sending it away from goal but the hosts have another bite of the cherry through Mauro Zarate, who shoots wide from six yards.

Apart from some lively skill in the fourth minute, we've not really seen much from Dele Alli. He perhaps knows he hasn't been involved as much as he would have liked as he lets his frustration get the better of him, tangling with Nenad Tomovic. The referee spots a little flick of Alli's foot when Tomovic tumbles to the ground and brandishes the yellow card.

Good save from Ciprian Tatarusanu as Christian Eriksen picks up the ball 25 yards out, turns towards goal and smacks a dipping effort that the Fiorentina keeper has to push over.

The game is just starting to show signs of opening up a bit now as Ben Davies gets into the Fiorentina area but his cross is blocked by Federico Bernaardeschi. At the other end, the visitors try to slip Borja Valero through, but Kevin Wimmer hacks clear.

Are Fiorentina targeting Kieran Trippier? 

Their early attacks were through Jakub Blaszczykowski on the right, but they have since attempted a couple of attacks down the left as Trippier is beaten and Ben Davies slices the cross behind for a corner. Borja Valero takes it, and the ball eventually falls to Blaszczykowski, whose effort is blocked.

If I get through tonight without misspelling Blaszczykowski, I'll be happy.
