James Milner is now on the right and whips a ball into the box where Divock Origi is beaten to the ball. Another decent chance. Tobias Werner goes into the book after chopping down Philippe Coutinho in the build-up, although Jordan Henderson looks like he was dishing it out beforehand.

Alberto Moreno might be dodgy at the back on occasion, but he lets fly from 25 yards and gives Marwin Hitz a real test in the Augsburg goal. His shot swerves and kicks into the turf in front of the goalkeeper.

Twenty minutes left. Who wants it? Liverpool in the ascendancy. 

Sometimes I'm not sure about Alberto Moreno and he has one of those moments as he heads an Augsburg cross back into danger at the back post rather than clear. Fortunately, Simon Mignolet gathers it. A strange and scary moment for Liverpool. 

The ball is being lost in midfield on a greater number of occasions. Caiuby is away down the left as Kolo Toure uses his ageing pace to beat the Augsburg striker to the ball. 

Daniel Sturridge is heading off and is replaced by Divock Origi. No sign of Christian Benteke. 

Augsburg are on the break from Liverpool's corner but Halil Altintop doesn't have the pace to break clear of the Liverpool defence.

Liverpool committing men forward in increasing numbers. Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner combine down the right and win a corner. It's taken short, Milner is on the run across the edge of the box, but he runs into an Augsburg-shaped roadblock.

Hmm Liverpool starting to turn the screw here. You might say that a goal is coming...

Oh how does this not go in? Roberto Firmino takes the free-kick, Kolo Toure is inches from heading in, it bounces back off Caiuby and Paul Verhaegh is very lucky not to head past his own goalkeeper. Marwin Hitz was already falling over but it bounced into this arms. A let-off for Augsburg. 

Roberto Firmino advances now, cutting in from the right but is hacked down by Dominik Kohr, who goes into the book.

This time it's Nathaniel Clyne with a one-two down the right but his cross is cleared at the near post. The corner comes to nothing. Liverpool starting to find a rhythm now.

I'm not sure what Daniel Sturridge was doing there. Moments later he tries to curl a shot into the top corner, but Marwin Hitz shifts across goal to save easily.

Liverpool starting to get a bit more space now in the Augsburg third. James Milner gets to the byline, crosses across the six-yard line after a neat one-two and Daniel Sturridge is unmarked and somehow doesn't score. How?
