Mamadou Sakho gets caught by Christoph Janker as they battle for a 50-50. The Liverpool defender comes off worst and Janker goes into the book.

Liverpool take the ball up the other end with Jordan Henderson attempting a shot from 25 yards, but it's blocked for a Liverpool corner. The ball gets crossed, loops up and Daniel Sturridge's close-range header is easily saved.

Augsburg work it down the left and Alexander Esswein has time to cross but Kolo Toure clears. Encouraging for the hosts, if lacking execution. 

Raul Bobadilla, an Argentine by birth but who now represents Paraguay, looks fine after his early hamstring scare. Both sides patient in possession. 

Jurgen Klopp looking a little concerned on the Liverpool bench as Augsburg make the early running. The home fans are in fine voice with the drums banging loudly but their team's defence gives the ball away and Roberto Firmino has a great chance but his shot is straight at Marwin Hitz in the home goal.  

The Augsburg striker Raul Bobadilla looks a little unsure as his team-mates pass the ball patiently but a big switch is intercepted by James Milner's header back to Simon Mignolet. 

Raul Bobadilla is looking dangerous already but appears to be clutching his hamstring on a cold night. A worry for the hosts.

Better play results in a half-chance for Raul Bobadilla as the ball bounces to him on the edge of the box, but his shot hits the ground and bounces well over.

Poor passing from the hosts leads to Liverpool looking for a quick break but Roberto Firmino is hauled down. The free-kick comes to nothing. Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz is looking to pass it out from the back.
