"It is disappointing. I would have liked to see the Aston Villa players go over and say thanks to the fans. The players’ body language is of failure.

"They have let the fans down. The Championship will be tough for Villa next season."

Andros Townsend looks pretty happy as he faces the cameras in the bowels of St James - and rightly so. The Newcastle winger had a hand in the first two goals, then sealed the win with the third. "A result like that been coming," he says. Full quotes to follow from Newcastle's man of the moment.

Northampton have been crowned champions in League Two after a 0-0 draw against Exeter and defeat for Oxford and a draw for Accrington.

Dagenham and Redbridge have been relegated from the Football League after a 3-2 defeat at Leyton Orient and Stevenage’s 2-1 win against Newport.

Bristol Rovers moved above Accrington into the automatic promotion places with a 2-1 win over Yeovil.

  4. 'Swansea need another win or two'published at 17:02 British Summer Time 16 April 2016

    Newcastle 3-0 Swansea

Are Swansea safe yet? Pretty much. They are 10 points clear of the drop-zone, although both Sunderland and Newcastle have played a game less. But Swans midfielder Leroy Fer is not counting his chickens yet...

"We switched off today," says the Netherlands international. "We need to look at ourselves and try to get better against Leicester.

"We need to forget this game quick. We need to win a game or two."

Mike: Not a single Villa player is fit to wear the shirt. Greedy and don't care about the club so please leave before next season

Alex Younger: 28 years in the Prem. It's been a wild ride of ups and downs. That's football. We'll be back.

Joy aplenty at Newcastle but they made just 288 passes today, Swansea by comparison attempted 560.

Gomes is the hero for Watford, Berahino West Brom's villain. The Hornets take the points that surely makes them safe in the division.

United so close to making it 2-0 and killing this game. Memphis Depay is found by Anthony Martial in acres of space on the left side of the box but his effort goes behind via a combination of Brad Guzan and then the post.
