Jonjo Shelvey's first act is to try and find Georginio Wijnaldum with a sweeping ball into the box but Simon Mignolet is out quickly to claim the ball.

Adam Lallana again looks to try and restore Liverpool's lead, but his run down the right byline results in a corner. Lucas, who came on along with Philippe Coutinho a few minutes ago, heads the corner towards goal from deep in the box but Newcastle are able to clear.

Do Newcastle dare win this? They send on Aleksandar Mitrovic for Papiss Cisse, whose goal at the start of this half prompted the United fightback. 

Oh, close! Adam Lallana fires from an angle inside the box but puts his effort just a yard past the far post. 

Well, well, well, who saw this coming at the break? Certainly not me. Liverpool were cruising. But Newcastle have shown a lot of fight. Just the kind of fight that gets a side out of a relegation fight.
