At one end, Daniel Sturridge goes down under the poked out leg of Cheick Tiote, prompting huge calls for a penalty that are waved away, before Newcastle break to present firstly Cisse and then Townsend with chances to shoot. It has been 20 years since Newcastle won at Anfield. They will have to do something pretty special in the next 45 minutes to avoid going down to their 20th defeat of the league campaign.

We are back under way and Newcastle have made a change. United top-scorer Georginio Wijnaldum, who scored in the reverse fixture this season - a 2-0 win for Newcastle, is on for Ayoze Perez.

Liverpool have bossed possession and the game. However, they have only had two shots on target. Not that this matters when you score from both!

In contrast, Newcastle have mustered two efforts, both of which have missed the Liverpool goal by a distance.

Worryingly for Newcastle, this game appears to have been over from the moment Daniel Sturridge's shot hit the back of the net after 76 seconds.

The away side have offered very little and, thanks to Lallana's second, Liverpool are cruising to another win.

Newcastle are finishing the half quite well. Papiss Cisse's cross from the left is over everyone in the box but falls for Vernon Anita, charging in down the right. Unfortunately for the away side, he slices his angled shot badly wide. And Mignolet has still yet to make a save.

"I don't see any hope for Newcastle here. They won't get anything out of it without changing things drastically. Newcastle are no disgrace but Liverpool are just so confident, they're popping it around creating chance after chance. Newcastle are struggling to even hold on to the ball."

But wait... here is some purpose from the away side. A cross comes in from the right and his headed wide by the diving Papiss Cisse. It wouldn't have counted anyway as the flag was up for offside, but it is at least a small sign of attacking intent.

Newcastle are being out-worked, out-played, out-everything at the moment. It is not just that they are losing here, it is that they don't give the impression they have any belief they can dig themselves out of trouble, either in this game or the season.
