Dean Wellings: this game is as tight as Zidane's trousers.

Francis Edwards: As dull as this game has been. One player I love watching is Toni Kroos. Don't think he ever makes a mistake, he's immense.

Jesus Navas gives away a cheap free-kick as a rare attack falls down. City have two more replacements available, could we yet see Raheem Sterling?

Has Ronaldo moved to England? The Brazilian legend was at Wembley at the weekend and he's in the crowd tonight. What a legend...

You know you've had a quiet game when you're singing about Phil Jones. Mind you, this might be the nearest he gets to appearing in a Champions League semi-final for quite some time...

Despite the lack of goalmouth excitement, the Real fans have enjoyed themselves tonight - particularly a group clad in white on the bottom tier of their section, who have been twirling their scarves throughout.

City's fans have been quieter than they were during the Paris St-Germain quarter-final but they have burst into a chorus of 'C'mon City' a few times since the break, and most recently reminded their red neighbours that "you signed Phil Jones, we signed Kun Aguero".

Referee Cuneyt Cakir is still getting some stick too.

That's better. Kelechi Iheanacho plays a lovely pass from in the hole to get Kevin de Bruyne motoring down the left and his cross is blocked for a corner. It is cleared, but comes back into space and Sergio Aguero's first touch is sublime, spinning him past one defender but then he fouls Dani Carvajal.

I wouldn't want to be the person cutting a highlights package.

"Sergio Aguero has had little to feed off tonight. The gap between him and Kevin de Bruyne has been so big. When the ball does go up to him, his team-mates need to support him."

Apparently Real coach Zinedine Zidane has split his trousers, I'm not sure how as there hasn't been much to get animated about since half-time.

Manchester City have 35 minutes left at home against a Real Madrid side missing Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. They may not get a better chance.

Here is a chance though as Sergio Ramos gets a free header from a corner but heads it straight at Joe Hart!

"Real Madrid full-backs Marcelo and Dani Carvajal have got forward so far in the second half. If they can get the away goal, what a prized possession that will be."

Jese links up well with Dani Carvajal down the Real right and they win a corner, but it's a poor delivery and is easily dealt with. The game, and the crowd, are yet to get going since the break.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 48 mins

    Man City 0-0 Real Madrid

The most half-hearted penalty appeal imaginable as Gareth Bale takes on Nicolas Otamendi, there is a slight touch and Bale stutters to the floor before looking at the extra official behind the goal. Get up, say the officials!

That's better from Sergio Aguero as he gets in between the two Real centre-backs to collect a neat pass forwards, he turns and shoots early with his left foot but it's always rising high over the top.

The players are in the tunnel now, Vincent Kompany has an arm around Jesus Navas as they stride out on to the pitch.

A change for Real - Karim Benzema is off and Jese comes on.

Contrary to the non-stop excitement of the Spanish radio commentators who are sitting behind me, this game has been tight and tense so far - we have barely had a shot at goal, let alone a goal-fest.

Still compelling stuff, though, and Real’s last attack before the break showed how much this game is in the balance. Jesus Navas scented a chance to break forward into space left by Marcelo, but Toni Kroos won the ball back and embarked on a dangerous run before his cross towards Gareth Bale was cleared.

"Both teams will look to attack... It will be an open game... There will be plenty of excitement..."

What do the experts know, eh? Just the four shots in the opening half, two apiece and only one each going anywhere near the opposing goal.

Nicolas Otamendi (30) headed City's nearest effort, with Kevin De Bruyne (17) seeing his 20-yard strike blocked. Madrid striker Karim Benzema (9) whizzed a late shot over the bar, after Gareth Bale (11) could only hit a blue shirt.

Russell Higginbotham: Why did Pellegrini replace Silva with Iheanacho and not Sterling, a more natural swap? City may lose the de Bruyne impact now

Sammiiee: If you think this is a Cagey game wait till tomorrow. Atletico!

Will Proudfoot: Is this Man City - Real Madrid, or West Brom - Sunderland?

"The game has been played in the middle third, no runners in behind and neither goalkeeper has had a shot to save. It has been quite poor and both defences have been strong.

"Raheem Sterling was £49m and he was the perfect replacement for David Silva. Later on in the game, he might come on for Jesus Navas.

"I think City have learned as they have gone further in the competition. 0-0 is a good result for City.

"Real Madrid have learned from their Wolfsburg game when the full-backs were flying forward, they haven't done so tonight."
