    Man City 0-0 Real Madrid

It's one of those games which you can't take your eyes off for a second - but very little has actually happened.

Neither side has managed a shot in anger yet, meaning their respective records of not conceding a goal in the first 15 minutes of a Champions League game this season remain intact.

And, as our heatmaps show below, an uninsulated loft has been warmer than the two penalty areas.

As the mid-half change takes place in the 5 live comms box Sergio Aguero takes a neat touch on the edge of the area but he can't get around Pepe to get a shot away. Is Aguero fully fit and sharp? I'm not so sure.

What are you doing?! Pepe lunges in to a silly challenge on Kevin de Bruyne and that is a stonewall booking.

"It has been very cagey, Real Madrid are playing quite deep and Casemiro has kept an eye on Kevin de Bruyne."

This was billed as a shoot-out between two attacking teams but, with more than 20 minutes gone, we are still waiting for our first effort at goal from either team.

Patience is the order of the day, for both teams - Real left-back Marcelo has hardly crossed the half-way line yet, which is very unlike him.

There's the first real glimpse of Real winger Lucas Vazquez, and it's a nice one too as he skips between two players but can't get his cross away.

Gareth Bale then gets in behind a sleepy Gael Clichy but his ball in is well dealt with. Real looking slick and dangerous now as Bacary Sagna has to defend well at the far post

It's intriguing stuff without being captivating so far. Keylor Navas comes under pressure from a poor backpass but Real pass it calmly and crisply out to halfway. So neat and tidy in possession.

"Kevin de Bruyne showed great pace to beat Pepe but you see the beauty of having Casemiro in your team. He comes across with a sliding tackle, stopping the attack, taking the ball and man."

Zinedine Zidane, looking as elegant in a coat as he was on the pitch, patrols the touchline to give some orders as Kevin de Bruyne skins Pepe, fantastic turn of pace. But there comes Casemiro, the modern-day Makelele, providing the balance. The breakwater. The perfect sliding tackle.

One delicious flick with the outside of the boot from Luka Modric is enough to send Gareth Bale away in behind Gale Clichy but his cross is not met by Karim Benzema at the far post.

The former Spurs duo linking up nicely.

"What did it for Real Madrid in the first leg against Wolfsburg was Julian Draxler coming in from the wing all the time.

"Can David Silva do that? Can he get a pass into Sergio Aguero then follow it up by coming back for the pass? That's what City need to do - pass, move, pass move."

Confident start from Manchester City, who - despite seeing Madrid shade possession and territory - have not been troubled. The Blues have arguably looked more threatening, but neither side is yet to crack a shot at goal.

Champions League tie, Premier League tempo. Fernandinho is doing his best to set that tempo, going in high, hard but fair on first Sergio Ramos and then Casemiro. Referee Cuneyt Cakir lumbers over and has a quiet word.

Vincent Kompany asked the City fans to turn up the volume tonight and they have responded to their skipper - they definitely have not waited until the 76th minute to start singing, as one pundit with a, er, suspected red allegiance claimed during the PSG tie, because the game started with a deafening chorus of Blue Moon.

Since then, they have shown their appreciation for Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne and a loud chant of ‘City, City, City’ has just gone round the ground, Mexican Wave style... although the officials are not getting quite so much love.

Sergio Ramos loses the ball cheaply and here come Manchester City, Kevin de Bruyne out to Jesus Navas on the right. In it comes, whipped in - but he can't find a man in light blue.

This is stating the mind-boggingly obvious but losing Sergio Aguero would be a huge blow for Manchester City. I'll keep an eye on him.

I had forgotten that Real keeper Keylor Navas was within a fax of joining Manchester United last summer. He has his first bit of work as he fields a low cross.

David Silva then takes on his man and wants a corner - free-kick given.

"It looks like Real Madrid's Casemiro up against Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne. He does get forward a lot and that leaves the space vacated and that will let De Bruyne advance towards Real's back four."

Rash defending! Nicolas Otamendi dives in and tries to win the ball on the halfway line and Karim Benzema rolls him and he's away. Bags of pace, but Otamendi stretches to bring him down. He's lucky not to get a very early booking.

There are no yellow cards hanging over a player's head tonight by the way.

Gareth Bale gets the ball to feet and takes on Gael Clichy - who does really well to take the ball away from the flying Welshman. It's a high energy start from the visitors.
