De Boer or Rafa at Goodison?

    Everton

Frank de Boer is interested in becoming Everton boss and is the "right man for the job", says the Dutchman's brother.

But Ronald de Boer added: "It's not up to him to make the move, that's up to the club."

The Toffees have also been linked with Southampton boss Ronald Koeman and Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez following Roberto Martinez's sacking.

Benitez is an "almost perfect fit" for Everton, former England defender Danny Mills told BBC Radio 5 live.

He said the former Liverpool boss would be open to a return to Merseyside.

"He lives there, his family is there and he'd be happy going back," insisted Mills.

    Time up for Martinez

Everton: Are you Wigan in disguise?

In case you missed the news this week, Everton have sacked manager Roberto Martinez after three years in charge.

Martinez's side, 12th in the Premier League, were beaten 3-1 by champions Leicester last Saturday and lost 3-0 at Sunderland on Wednesday.

The Toffees lost in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup this season.

The club praised the Spaniard, 42, for his "utmost integrity and dignity", describing him as a "great ambassador" who played a "key role" in developing young players.

    Who next?

  3. League One play-offpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 15 May 2016

    Bradford v Millwall (12:15 BST)

The first game of note - in England - this afternoon sees Bradford host Millwall in the League One play-offs. It is just about to get under way.

Nothing is decided after one leg of course but it looks like the winners of that one could face Barnsley at Wembley after they tonked Walsall 3-0 yesterday...

    Follow that game here.

  5. New kit alertpublished at 14:52

Stoke v West Ham (15:00 BST)

How do we feel about new kits being worn on the final day of the season? Almost a tradition now but should they be saved for the start of the following season?

    I say they should.

Anyway, not a lot you can do with a Stoke kit. Red and white stripes. Is this the last time Peter Crouch will wear one?

Good afternoon everyone - for one final time this Premier League season we go again.

There's not a huge deal at stake at the two business ends of the table, but we do have a top-four spot and a Europa League place or two up for grabs.

    Let's get going...

The warm-up is over, time for the main course.

  9. Race for the Golden Glovepublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 15 May 2016

Nothing to play for? The Premier League title race and relegation survival hopes may already be over, but there is an exciting finish in hand - no pun intended - for the Golden Glove.

The award is presented to the goalkeeper at the end of the season who has the most clean sheets.

This season, Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel, Arsenal's Petr Cech, Manchester City's Joe Hart and Manchester United's David de Gea are all vying for the prize.

The four stoppers are locked on 15 shutouts, so another blank could secure the glove. If more than one goalkeeper ends up with the same number of clean sheets, then the award is shared.

Manuel Pellegrini and Quique Sanchez Flores aren't the only men saying goodbye this afternoon.

Tim Howard, after nearly 10 years with Everton and 413 appearances, is preparing to make his last appearance at Goodison Park today.

The American has penned an emotional letter, saying the club has "become part of my soul".

  15. Wenger to stay on?published at 11:41 British Summer Time 15 May 2016

Arsenal v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Piers Morgan may be pleased to hear that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied reports he has agreed to extend his stay beyond next season.

"That's completely wrong. You can treat that as just an invention and no more," says Wenger.

"What I focus on is respecting my contract and then envisage what I will do afterwards. I will see where I am personally and where the club stands at the end of my contract."

  19. Wait a second...published at 14:43

    Newcastle v Tottenham (15:00 BST)

Each position in the Premier League table is worth £1.2m in prize money and, in the words of a famous retailer, every little helps.

As we've already mentioned, for Tottenham it's not necessarily about the money, but prestige and a rare opportunity to get the better of their neighbours.

Spurs are second - two points clear of Arsenal and have a superior goal difference. A single point against relegated Newcastle should be enough to secure the runners-up spot and annoy Arsenal fans.

  20. A home banker?published at 14:40

    Arsenal v Aston Villa

Has there been anything more certain this season than a home win over Aston Villa?

Relegated Villa have not won an away game in any competition since the opening day of the season at Bournemouth, while the Gunners have lost only three of their last 34 league meetings between the sides. Is there a point playing this match? I guess they must.

Here's the deal: the Gunners will finish in the top three - and thus qualify for the Champions League group stage - if they avoid defeat against Aston Villa, or if Manchester City fail to win at Swansea.
