Real Madrid's holding midfielder Casemiro has a go from distance but it's easily held by Jan Oblak, who made some excellent saves to keep Atletico Madrid in the game before their equaliser.

"There are some tired legs out there for Real Madrid and you can see it creeping into their game.

"This Atletico side are full of belief and energy, they epitomise what Diego Simeone is about and it will take brilliance from the stars of Real to win this game."

Real Madrid have a team huddle, while Yannick Carrasco gets some last-minute instructions from Diego Simeone. "Score again please" probably.

"That was a completely different Atletico team that came out in the second half. In the first half they were passive and allowed 45 minutes to go past them.

"Real looked like world beaters, they played with swagger and arrogance. But whatever Diego Simeone said to them at half-time and the tactical switch he made has worked for them and I would not bet against them winning the game now."

So for the second time in three years, the Champions League final between Real and Atletico Madrid goes to extra time.

Real ended up winning that 4-1 but that's because their last-gasp equaliser gave them such confidence, and Atletico were absolutely exhausted.

There won't be a repeat of that today. The circumstances are very different.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 90+3 mins

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos takes Yannick Carrasco out of the equation near the halfway line with the Belgian breaking forward, and he's booked. Took one for the team.

Atleti captain Gabi is booked too. Presumably for a moan.

Real Madrid have a free-kick. A few players go forward but Luka Modric's ball is poor. And Atletico get the ball. They break...

Three minutes to go. Will someone be a hero? Or a villain?

Cristiano Ronaldo, who hasn't been fit coming into this game, really hasn't looked sharp tonight. Not sure Portugal will be delighted he has to play 120 minutes now probably.

Marcelo plays in a brilliant powerful cross from the left BUT WHERE ARE THE STRIKERS?

If Cristiano Ronaldo gets his head to it, Real Madrid are the champions of Europe. But he doesn't. So they aren't.

Look how patient Atletico were for their equaliser. They kept the ball then (20) Juanfran's brilliant volley set up Yannick Carrasco to strike from close range.

Fernando Torres almost puts Atletico Madrid ahead but his shot at the near post hits the side-netting. This is really tense now, next goal probably wins the Champions League.
