    France 5-1 Iceland

Iceland continue to pour forwards. Not so much throwing caution to the wind as installing some caution air conditioning and cranking the notch to 10. All out attack at times, at 5-1 down.

Richard: What. A. Save. How has Lloris kept that out?

Sarah Morgan: Whatever tonight's result, Iceland are big winners where matters most of all in football - true team spirit and pride.

Si's Insights: Iceland are taking a leaf out of Hungary's book. Continuing to go for it even though it seems a lost cause. And why not?

  3. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 65 mins

    France 5-1 Iceland

All going on at the Stade de France as Iceland now have a penalty shout as a clearance hits the arm of Patrice Evra  at the front post. Nothing doing from referee Bjorn Kuipers.

Unbelievable save from Hugo Lloris. Brilliant ball in, a great header, and fabulous point-blank stop.

We thought this second half would be a dead rubber, all possession, but we've got a game on our hands. Although it is 5-1.

Olivier Giroud might have been a little surprised to be taken off with half an hour left and a hat-trick there for the taking.

As he walked past boss Didier Deschamps the French coach put his arms around him and had a long chat.

This game is done, there are bigger fish to fry. Deschamps has already moved on.

Daphne De Leener: Can other teams adopt the Iceland fans? Would be a real shame to send them home.

Matt, Richmond: You know when you try and get the lid off a jar and can't, but you know you've loosened it for the person who gets it off afterwards.... yeah that's what's happening here with France destroying Iceland! You're welcome France!

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 63 mins

    France 5-1 Iceland

What a save that is! Iceland almost have a second as another corner skids into the middle, Sverrir Ingason is free six yards out and he thwacks a header in, and Hugo Lloris makes a stunning one-hander to turn it away!

Iceland playing really well - for a side losing 5-1 anyway...

  8. CLOSE!published at 61 mins

    France 5-1 Iceland

Iceland continue to threaten from every set-piece as a long throw is flicked on for Alfred Finnbogason to hook a volley over the top.

That's 17 efforts on goal so far in a lively night in Paris. That 10-minute lull at the start of the second half was temporary.

    France 5-1 Iceland

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender at the Stade de France for BBC Radio 5 live

Olivier Giroud leaps high above the defence and goalkeeper to head into the empty net, a great finish. What a delivery from Dimitri Payet though; the ball's just put into an area with the right amount of pace on the ball so Giroud can adjust his run, leap, and beat his man. Brilliant ball.

  10. 'Tailor-made'published at 21:19 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    France 5-1 Iceland

    Mark Lawrenson
BBC football expert at Stade de France

It's a great ball in from Dimitri Payet. It's tailor made for Olivier Giroud. No doubt whatsoever. He scored a similar goal against Romania, where the goalkeeper was all over the place - just like the Iceland keeper was here.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    France 5-1 Iceland

No hat-trick for Olivier Giroud though as he is replaced by Andre-Pierre Gignac. Giroud not so happy about that but he is on a booking. Smart management.

  12. goal

    Olivier Giroud

You're getting your money's worth tonight at the Stade de France. Dimitri Payet puts in a wonderful free-kick, full of pace, dip and bend, and Olivier Giroud gets to the ball before the goalkeeper and heads home. His second of the night.

Never say never. We've seen stranger things happen. Although it is almost impossible.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 58 mins

    France 4-1 Iceland

That's the first Iceland player to definitely miss the semi-final - Birkir Bjarnason in the book for a lunge on Olivier Giroud.

Bjarnason is fuming about that! Livid. It was a foul though.

The comeback is on!.. Who knows... Brilliant ball in from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's contact takes it right into the corner of the net. It's a quality goal.

    France 4-1 Iceland

    Mark Lawrenson
BBC football expert at Stade de France

It's a really well worked goal. It came from a throw-in which didn't work for once. It's a lovely ball for someone to attack and it's a superb finish, a toe-in past Hugo Lloris.

  17. goal

GOAL - France 4-1 Icelandpublished at 56 mins

    Kolbeinn Sigthorsson

Well I never! Who saw that coming? It's a really good goal too as Swansea man Gylfi Sigurdsson whips in a delicious cross from the right, to the near post and there's Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to stretch and toe a volley into the corner.

  18. 'We're in for a thriller'published at 21:14 British Summer Time 3 July 2016

    France 4-0 Iceland

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender at the Stade de France for BBC Radio 5 live

Samuel Umtiti has had it easy on his international debut; just that one long throw-in that caused problems in the first half, from Iceland. And in two or three months' time this result won't matter. These players are always going to be heroes in their country.

This performance is going to give France a huge amount of confidence. The semi-final against Germany's going to be an absolute thriller.

  19. Postpublished at 54 mins

No sign of any French subs yet. Didier Deschamps could bring himself on and he wouldn't look out of place. It's over. Finished. Its metabolic process is now history.

Good side, Bhutan. Under rated. Look forward to England's group game with them in Russia. If either side qualify.

As ever when a side racks up the goals in the first half there's an air of non-event about this now. If you need to crack on with anything, some homework, the ironing, making the sandwiches for work, you get on with it.
