It's taken a worldy to beat Fabianski today. I'd bet on him.

Maybe Switzerland deserve to go through, they were the better team in extra time.

Now it is in the lap of the gods, you have to be positive, pick out a spot and hope for the best.

Both goalkeepers have their heads buried in an ipad as they presumably check out videos on the penalty takers. Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic has his entire squad in a huddle. What on earth can he be saying now?

    'DON'T MISS!'

Not for the first time in this game, Poland defender Michal Pazdan has made a block or a brilliant decision to put the attacker off.

Meanwhile, Swiss midfield Granit Xhaka has everything you need to play in the Premier League. It looks like Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have the full package in the deep-lying midfield role.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 117 mins

    Switzerland 1-1 Poland

Another great chance for Swiss sub Eren Derdiyok! Granit Xhaka sends the ball down the left, Haris Seferovic sends in the cross and despite having two swings at it Derdiyok can't steer it in.

If Switzerland don't win this they have every right to feel aggrieved...

What a chance that is. You'd argue that Shaqiri is the only man on the pitch who could see that pass. Great save, but you have to score from there to win games.

Switzerland come forward again, probing and pressing away for a winner. Can they find a way through - oh great save!

They dink the ball over the top, Eren Derdiyok is free and meets it with a header but Lukasz Fabianski makes a blinder of a one-handed stop!

Xherdan Shaqiri is enjoying himself, when he gets towards the edge of the 18-yard box it will only take one heavy Poland leg for him to go over in the area.

We are 11 minutes away from penalties in a game that always felt like it would go to the shootout. Switzerland doing all the probing, not sure what Poland are playing at to be honest.

There have been 42 efforts on goal this afternoon but it's still managed to be a fairly dull game. That takes some doing. Swiss centre-back Fabian Schar is invited to shoot from a good 30 yards and he can't resist, belting it over the top.

This is where players start to think about penalty kicks. You don't want to make a mistake, but it is in your mind.
