    Germany 2-0 Slovakia

Slovakia start the second half and they've made a change.

Jan Gregus comes on, with Vladimir Weiss heading off. Weiss looked one of Slovakia's livelier players, although that's not saying much.

    So here's the line-ups...

Germany: Neuer, Hector, Hummels, Khedira, Ozil, Draxler, Muller, Boateng, Kroos, Kimmich, Gomez

Slovakia: Kozacik, Pekarík, Skrtel, Durica, Gyomber, Gregus, Hrosovsky, Skriniar, Hamsik, Kucka, Duris

    Referee: Szymon Marciniak (Poland)

The rest of the Euro 2016 title contenders should take not - this has been a good, yet understated performance from Germany.

Tidy passing, accurate crossfield balls, a bit of trickery from the likes of Draxler - and you sense they're not going at full pelt yet.

Tom Holmes: How on earth can anyone consider France favourites ahead of this Germany team? Streets ahead of the competition.

It does feel like Germany are being efficient and are now learning to do skillful and stylish stuff now too, they tend to do that in a tournament, that is tournament nous, getting better and stronger as they go on.

That is the best half I have seen from Germany at Euro 2016, they are passing and looking after the ball so well, they look like they are enjoying themselves.

They created a whole bunch of chances and there is more, if they are asked to turn it up a gear. Was I surprised at Julian Draxler? I was at the start, not anymore. He has been wonderful.

Everyone in Germany knows he will be a special player but he has added flicks, tricks, dummies and feints to his game.

It's not about doing the stepover, it's about what you do with it after, people don't learn that but Draxler does it so well.

And that's the first half. Germany are heading into the quarter-finals, right?

You'd be a box of frogs to bet otherwise.

Old-fashioned wing play from Julian Draxler, a shimmy, a dummy and left the defender for dead.

Mario Gomez wont score an easier goal, it was two yards out.

Germany have easily been the better team, 3-0, 4-0 would have been a better reflection of the match.

It is very difficult to see Slovakia getting back into this match now.

Is this the sign of a good side?

Seconds earlier, Manuel Neuer makes a top save.

At the other end, Julian Daxler dances past Juraj Kucka to the by-line and cuts back to the edge of the six-yard box.

Mario Gomez gets goal-side of the defender and prods it into the roof of the net.

Oh, wow. how good was that?

The header from Juraj Kucka was heading for the top corner, you are thinking 'he can't get to that' but Manuel Neuer does and tips it over the crossbar.

    A brilliant save.

This came out of nowhere for Slovakia. Peter Pekarik crosses from the right and Juraj Kucka meets it well at the back post.

But Manuel Neuer flies across to his right and turns it over.

You can see why Julian Draxler replaced Mario Gotze. He brings down a ball on the edge of the box, shows strength to hold off the defender, and turns and drags his shot wide.

Germany are a joy to watch, they are passing it beautifully.

They are confident in every position, without any utter stars like a Cristiano Ronaldo.

They have Toni Kroos though, who made more passes than Northern Ireland the other day.

The team utterly dominate possession and it is not pointless possession either.

Julian Draxler has the moves. He shimmies past Peter Pekarik to get into the Slovak box, but Martin Skrtel is in the way of his shot.

    Ouch.

Martin Skrtel and Thomas Muller rut heads together challenging for a ball in the air on the edge of the Slovak six-yard box.

Muller looks OK. Skrtel seems a bit more dazed.

Julian Draxler skips through two Slovaks in the middle of the park. He does so well, none of his team-mates seemed to expect it.

So he gives it to right-back Joshua Kimmich who clips a ball to his fellow full-back Jonas Hector on the other side. He drives a ball across goal that Slovakia scramble away.

Slovakia really have no idea from where Germany will attack next. They look just as good down the middle as when they go out wide.

Jonas Hector can't find a team-mate with a cross from the left before Thomas Muller puts a shot well wide from the edge of the box.

Julian Draxler is so far backing up Joachim Low's decision to call him up today. He skins Slovak left-back Norbert Gyomber to get to the by-line, but can't find a decent cut-back.

Mesut Ozil has now popped up on the left wing, he was on the right, he was in the middle, where is he playing?

He has been in the spaces and that is why Slovakia are having so much difficulty in dealing with him. You can't play against that because you don't have a fix on where you should be.

Mesut Ozil has drifted out to the left a bit in the last few minutes and he has loads of space there on this occasion to send in a cross. Thomas Muller meets it at the front post, but it spoons off his shoulder and over.
