    Germany 1-0 Slovakia

It seems the Germans have swapped being good at penalties with being good at hitting moving balls from outside the area.

Sami Khedira is the latest to let fly, but it's blocked.

It's not Mesut Ozil's day so far. Julian Draxler drops a ball into the box that Mario Gomez nods to Ozil on the edge of the area - he catches the volley nicely but it sizzles wide.

This is pretty ominous for Slovakia.

Germany haven't lost a knockout game at a major tournament in which they scored first since USA 94 against Bulgaria.

Plenty of you pointing out that two Arsenal players have missed penalties in as many days. Tottenham fans maybe?

Slovakia get their most dangerous move going.

Vladimir Weiss one-twos with Milan Skriniar to get into the left of the box and then lays it back to the midfielder, who puts his shot against a defender.

This pitch in Lille was supposedly re-layed this week.

If it was, it looks like it was relayed by an army of moles.

    Bobbles and patchy galore.

Amid all that, Martin Skrtel was booked for his foul on Mario Gomez. He basically shoved the striker in the back while he was in the air.

Speaking of Mario, he wriggles into freedom on the edge of the box and slaps a shot against a diving defender.

Toni Kroos has a swing from 30 yards but it goes wide.

Mesut Ozil was too confident, he needs to put more power into the shot. The goalkeeper goes the right way and saves it.

    Maybe that will lift Slovakia.

We've had more action in 15 minutes in this one than 117 minutes of Croatia v Portugal.

Mesut Ozil, left-footed, goes for the bottom-right corner. But it's a "good height", as you're supposed to say, and Matus Kozacik gets two palms to it.

What on Earth are you doing out there Jerome Boateng? You should be in the box.

He is standing around 25-yards out, it took an awful long time to fall but it takes a little deflection which killed the goalkeeper.

Centre-backs are not known for keeping their shots down, so well done Boateng.

    (Boateng)

    Sweet, sweet strike.

Julian Draxler is bundled over by Slovak left-back Norbert Gyomber.

    Nice one, Norbert.

Dangerous free-kick down the right flank... Sami Khedira plants a head on to Toni Kroos' delivery and Matus Kozacik palms over the bar.

Kroos takes the corner, it's headed out and Jerome Boateng marches on to a volley from 25 yards out that daisy cutters into the bottom-left corner, taking a little nick on the way.

One of the most important players for Slovakia is going to be Milan Skriniar. He is a unit and will sit in front of the defence, giving them as much cover as possible.

A couple of tidy diagonal balls already from the Germans. Toni Kroos finds right-back Joshua Kimmich down the flank, but he ends up putting it out for a goal kick.

Julian Draxler, into the German side instead of Mario Gotze, works it out to Jonas Hector down the left, but his cross is charged down.

Mesut Ozil sprays it back out to Hector who gives Toni Kroos a chance to cross from deep - he sends it soaring over everyone.

Early touch for Jerome Boateng at the back for Germany - he was a doubt with a calf injury. He's also one of three Germans one booking away from a suspension.

Musut Ozil and Sami Khedira are the others.
