    Hungary v Belgium (20:00 BST)

The winner of this game will progress to meet Wales in the quarter-finals (I never thought I'd write that sentence). Chris Coleman's side won the battle of Britain yesterday against Northern Ireland, with Gareth McAuley's own goal separating the sides.

Of course, Belgium have a score to settle with the Welsh, who took four points off them in qualifying for the finals. Besides, Hungary Wales sounds something I would read to my two-year-old niece.

If I was Jan Vertonghen I would be fuming. I would be telling my manager to play me in my best position at centre-back.

Belgium haven't played well as a unit or as a team. The one thing I don't understand is that when you have a great partnership in the central-defence between Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, Marc Wilmots keeps putting Vertonghen on the left.

Hungary are not scared, they have a go and they topped their group.

We all know the vast majority of the Belgium players as they play in the Premier League and the golden generation, you get the feeling they will miss their big opportunity.

When you look at their side of the draw, they have Wales next and Poland or Portugal in the semi-finals.

France, the Republic of Ireland and Germany did their best to bring some excitement to the tournament earlier, but on the whole Euro 2016 has been a somewhat cautious affair. This was epitomised last night by the game between Croatia and Portugal, which was 25% football match, 75% sleeping tablet.

The somewhat tepid nature of many of the game seems to stem partly from an improvement in the ability and tactical nous of the so-called "lesser nations" and also a conservatism that seems to have crept in, with coaches adopting an uber risk-free, often deep-lying, counter-attacking policy reliant largely on moments of brilliance from star individuals.

Give me a Kevin Keegan-style, cavalier 'if you score three, we'll score four'. I'd rather hang my utterly shattered head while clinging to an advertising board for stability any day than skulk off a field in tears having not registered a shot on target in 120 minutes.

At 40, Hungary goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly is the oldest man at Euro 2016. Here is a small pictorial tribute to the great man in the grey trackies...

There are 16 years between the respective keepers tonight. Both have Premier League ties. Thibaut Courtois is Chelsea's current number one and Gabor Kiraly has graced a few English clubs - mainly Crystal Palace - during his career. Speaking of Kiraly...

According to our match preview, the Belgium squad was valued at £318.9m, which means an average of £13.8m a player in their 23 man squad. Based on that valuation, one single Belgian player is worth more than the entire Hungary squad, who were rated at £12m.

I'll leave it up to you to decide if you think the Belgian squad are over-valued or the Hungary one not valued highly enough.

You may not realise this, but Hungary won their group. They have reached the last 16 somewhat under the radar, with Portugal's struggles and the wonder of Iceland monopolising attention.

It would be foolish for Belgium to underestimate the significant threat they pose. They are pretty organised, have bags of spirit and are dangerously unpredictable. Balazs Dzsudzsak is quality and comes into the game off the back of two goals against Portugal and Zoltan Gera has shown he can still smash it like the best of them. Plus, they have a top man in dirty trackie bottoms in net.

There will be more than a few envious glances cast in the direction of Belgium's pool of talent by other European nations. Joachim Low would love to have a forward like Romelu Lukaku, Roy Hodgson would probably drive Chris Smalling and Gary Cahill to the drop-off point himself if he could swap for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld and no manager worth his salt wound spurn the chance to have Kevin de Bruyne in their midfield.

And yet Marc Wilmots side, like Goliath's pacifist big brother, are not punching their weight. They were out-thought tactically by Italy, came to life in the second half against the Republic of Ireland but laboured to a final group win over Sweden. So, to paraphrase Mr. M. B. Mathers III, will the real Belgium please stand up... and, er, run around and kick the ball well and stuff.

How do you solve a problem like Belgium?

So much ability, so much experience, so much money spent on the individuals in their squad, and yet getting them to play like a team is proving bafflingly illusive.

We have reached the first proper test of the country's golden generation. A win adds a bit more legitimacy to the hype. If they lose it will be the biggest waste of talent since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
