I'm wondering if Wilshere's going to sit in the midfield. He's better driving on. Eric Dier didn't do much wrong. I thought he would have replaced someone like Dele Alli.

Will Pedley: Who cares? If we go out now we save ourselves moaning about Roy picking Wilshere against France

Purple Tentacle: If England get knocked out here, do we go into the Plate competition to win a crate of beer?

Richard: Earlier, Conte was kicking every ball (literally, at times) Hodgson is just sat down and shaking his head.

England are letting themselves down. They have to show a bit of character and move the ball around sharply and precisely. This is against a Championship standard team.

    England 1-2 Iceland

We've no leaders. That long throw - if my Sunday morning team conceded that goal I'd go absolutely mad. The second one is probably a Saturday morning goal. Two terrible goals to give away.

I'd put Wayne Rooney behind Harry Kane and bring on Jack Wilshere for Dele Alli. Roy, this is where you earn your money mate. This is Iceland!

I've just seen some more replays of the second Iceland goal. I can confirm that Joe Hart should have saved it.

Tony Hart would have saved it. Bret "The Hitman" Hart would certainly have saved it.

    Phil McNulty

If the half-time team talk against Wales, when England were losing 1-0, was the biggest of his managerial career up to that point, then we're in even more hazardous territory here.

England squandered the perfect start and ended the half looking nervy as Iceland's uncompromising defenders grew in confidence.

As in Lens, it is all on the line for England and Hodgson in the second half.

Remy: Why are we playing so gung ho? Given absolutely no respect to Iceland and they've done their homework!

David Broome: Why make 5 and 6 changes every game? How can there be continuity? Why start Kane and Sterling again? what is Hodgson thinking?

  14. 'Hodgson has to do what is right'published at 20:48 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    England 1-2 Iceland

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

I just saw a picture of Roy Hodgson with his head in his hands and rubbing his eyes. Taking off Raheem Sterling would ruin his confidence but he has to do what is right. It was poor defending for the first goal and then it was appalling defending for the second.

England had 10 shots in the first half, but just two were on target. One of those was a penalty.

They had 69% of possession. They are heading home as it stands.

Wayne Rooney looks frustrated as he is hauled over in midfield. England need the half-time words and changes from the Wales game.

Kyle Walker crosses well, Rooney shins a volley into the Nice turf and away.

Roy Hodgson has his head in his hands. He is not alone.

James Purkis: In 2014, we were criticised for being 4-4-2 and old fashioned. We're now losing to a 4-4-2 team using set pieces.

Tamim Mezher: Remember when we beat Germany away 3-2 playing 4-4-2 with Kane & Vardy up front and NEVER PLAYED IT AGAIN?

Arif: England were saying that someone was going to get a hammering soon, yes it's England
