Ah Valencia. The Spanish club with only one screaming Neville brother on the touchline instead of two. Since G Nev's sacking, Los Che have won one and lost one in their two Liga games. Reckon they'd take a draw in the Camp Nou to complete the mixed start under new gaffer Pako Ayestaran.

A few of our Facebook followers have been in touch to offer their explanations. You can too if you head here...

Chris Cameron: Turning point was the first leg of the CL semi, totally shocking bias by the ref which no-one could ignore. Since then not quite as many dodgy decisions and opponents are starting to see they are there for the taking

Young Mouss: Everyday is not Christmas, 39 games unbeaten is not easy, players are tired but they will come back stronger, vamos Barca we will win the liga.

Olatunde James: law of diminishing return......they are weak, overused and exhausted......they are no machines....

A simple enough question. A difficult one to answer. If we knew them then Luis Enrique would have been on the blower on Thursday morning. But here's a few suggestions...

Fatigue and the over-reliance on pretty much the same starting XI? Messi starting to drift (or be forced) inside during recent games? Luis Enrique lacking a Plan B? We're open to your suggestions...

Barcelona haven't faced many sticky spots in recent seasons, but manager Luis Enrique says now is the time for the whole club to stay united.

"When you are in a situation like this we are going to need a monumental effort," says the Barca boss.

"We need to be stronger than ever, we need to help each other, stay together in every area of the pitch and we will need the support of our fans."

Barcelona are out of the Champions League, they've lost three of the last four games and Messi hasn't found the net in five matches.

Meanwhile Real Madrid are into the Champions League semi-finals, they've closed the gap in La Liga to a single point and Ronaldo's scoring for fun.

So, are Barca going to blow it? And if so, which team is going to topple them?

Valencia boss Pako Ayestaran has left strikers Alvaro Negredo and Paco Alcacer on the bench. That could be a strong hint about their tactical approach tonight. Park the bus.

Valencia XI: Diego Alves, Barragán, Mustafi, Abdennour, Siqueira, Parejo, Enzo Pérez, Javi Fuego, Mina, Moreno, Ándre Gomes.

Brazil right-back Dani Alves has been dropped by Barca boss Luis Enrique, otherwise it is that familiar looking starting XI. Wonder if Alves's omission is anything to do with THAT bizarre video message, external after the Atletico defeat?

Barca XI: Bravo, Sergi Roberto, Pique, Mascherano, Alba, Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic, Messi, Suarez, Neymar.

  8. Barca's crown to lose?published at 19:08

    Barcelona v Valencia (19:30 BST)

So what's gone wrong? In La Liga, Barca were nine points clear of nearest rivals Atletico Madrid after drawing 2-2 at Villarreal on 20 March. That lead has been cut to...zero.

Two straight defeats against Real Madrid and Real Sociedad have damaged the Catalan side's title defence, allowing Atletico - who have just won 3-0 against Granada at the Calderon - to haul themselves level.

Diego Simeone's men, of course, also dumped Barca out of the Champions League this week, leaving the Catalans just gunning for the Liga and Copa del Rey double.

  9. Barca wilting?published at 19:04

    Barcelona v Valencia (19:30 BST)

This time last month, everything was rosy in the garden of Barcelona. Their La Liga campaign was blooming, their Champions League ambitions flourishing, their Copa del Rey run ready to blossom.

Then a few unwanted intruders climbed over the fence, trampled all over their good work and left them at risk of missing out on the prize-winning pots. Tonight they must produce...

A month ago, most people didn't give a hoot about Panama and its tax havens. A month ago, most people hadn't heard of Danny Willett. A month ago, most people expected Barcelona to win the treble. Again.

    Funny how things change...
