It's a dull day on Teesside, a bit overcast, but that in no way detracts from the red-hot atmosphere inside the Riverside Stadium.

Tickets sold out weeks ago, people have been begging and borrowing to get a seat, and now we're just 13 minutes from kick-off.

    Middlesbrough v Brighton (12:30 BST)

The appointment of former Real Madrid defender Aitor Karanka as head coach and the continued investment of chairman Steve Gibson have seen Middlesbrough establish themselves as a force in the Championship over the past couple of years.

They've been in the mix for promotion all season, and they're one win or draw away from getting back into the Premier League after a seven-year absence.

Boro want to get the job done today. Anything to avoid a repeat of last season's play-off final defeat by Norwich at Wembley.

"It's murky and a little chilly today, yesterday's balminess gone, the Transporter Bridge that is such a symbol of Teesside is shrouded in mist.

"The first signs of players emerging from the tunnel prompt huge cheers, as does the rabble-rousing chest beating goalkeeping coach Leo Percovich, who ran to the New Holgate End to gee up the fans.

"Brighton's away section is steadily filling, as a jumbo screen showing Boro highlights blazes away to their left."

Burnley confirmed promotion on Monday. Although they are only clear of third-placed Brighton by two points, they can't be caught by both Middlesbrough and the Seagulls today as those two sides are playing each other.

Hull and Derby know they will meet each other in a play-off semi-final - Hull need a win to be sure of a home second leg.

Sheffield Wednesday await for the team that misses out on a top-two finish today.
