    I know we're very Burnley focused in our reaction, but they are the story tonight.

    Avoiding defeat at Deepdale means Sean Dyche's team have gone 21 games unbeaten (W14 D7) - it is their longest run since November 1972.

    Middlesbrough and Brighton both play tomorrow to reduce the deficit at the top.

    Those two also have to play each other on the final day so the Clarets know two more wins means Premier League football next term.

    Preston remain in 10th position.

    Joey Barton's deflected free-kick wins a match in which they also hit the post through Andre Gray and the crossbar with George Boyd. 

    Jermaine Beckford had Preston's best chance but they were beaten by the better team tonight.

    In front of a packed away end containing 5,630 fans, the Clarets win this Lancashire derby.
