  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

    Preston 0-1 Burnley

Joe Garner off and Jordan Hugill on for Preston up top.

Hugill's a monster of a man and will add another physical presence to aim for.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 73 mins

    Preston 0-1 Burnley

This looks harsh on Andre Gray who tries to challenge Greg Cunningham as he clears.

The Burnley striker comes in behind Cunningham and attempts to pull out of the challenge but the referee deems it worthy of a yellow card.

  3. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 71 mins

Well that coming together with Joey Barton seems to have got Jermaine Beckford going.

Now he directs a header towards goal but it's easy enough for Tom Heaton to gather.

Better though from the hosts and the crowd respond with a flurry of noise.

Out of nothing, Jermaine Beckford does brilliantly holding the ball up top for Preston.

He lays in the advancing Daniel Johnson, but on his weaker right foot it's easy enough for Tom Heaton to palm away.

Joe Garner brings down the rebound but fires over.

  5. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 67 mins

Preston might have struggled for chances in this game, but they're still as committed as ever.

Joey Barton and Jermaine Beckford tangle after a free-kick but after a word from the referee they shake hands and are best friends again.

  6. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 65 mins

Brilliant drive into the box from goalscorer Joey Barton that nearly creates another chance.

The 33-year-old powers down the left and drills his low cross towards the edge of the six-yard box, but the white shirts of Preston eventually clear.

  7. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 62 mins

Just a reminder that if it stays like this, Burnley will move a point above Middlesbrough at the top of the Championship.

One famous Clarets fan would like another goal...

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 60 mins

    Preston 0-1 Burnley

Four players now with bookings in the Lancashire derby.

Preston defender Bailey Wright's mistimed challenge sees him given a yellow card.

  9. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 59 mins

Calum Woods' energetic run gives Preston fans something to shout about, as he cuts in from the right and his left-footed shot has Tom Heaton scrambling across the goal.

The corner comes to nothing though.

  10. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 58 mins

Still the second goal evades Burnley.

Scott Arfield picks up some scraps on the edge of the area and turns smartly. He opens up his body to try and curl it into the far post but just cannot get enough bend on it.

  11. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 57 mins

First time we've really seen Paul Gallagher able to run at the Burnley backline, but he's unable to find Joe Garner with his through ball.

He then concedes a free-kick trying to win the ball back.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 55 mins

Andre Gray hits woodworkImage source, Rex Features

Burnley burst into life again and the instinctive strike of Andre Gray very nearly catches out Chris Kirkland at the near post from the edge of the area - it's lucky to not come off Kirkland into the back of the net.

The Clarets keep the ball well and then George Boyd's 25-yard drive clips the top of the crossbar moments later!

  13. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 53 mins

You can see why Burnley are the highest scorers from set pieces in the Championship.

Again, Joey Barton's delivery is excellent but Wales international Sam Vokes cannot stretch his neck muscles enough to glance it on target.

  14. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 51 mins

Burnley, attacking in front of their own fans in this half, put some pressure on the Preston backline.

Scott Arfield's looping cross comes to nothing though.

Who should have been in the Championship XI?

Clayton certainly did make it Chris.

  16. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 48 mins

Well Preston then go and carve out a couple of opportunities!

A delicious, curling cross finds Jermaine Beckford with the best of the two but from six yards out he glances his header over.

  17. Preston 0-1 Burnleypublished at 47 mins

It's a fairly subdued start to the second-half, lacking the pre-match atmosphere.

That's despite the numbers in Deepdale.

Who should have been in the Championship XI?

I'm not sure Mr Barton had a say Martyn! However, he's the man who's made the difference so far tonight - albeit via a huge deflection.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Preston 0-1 Burnley

Back under way as Burnley get us going under the floodlights in Preston.

No changes for either side at the break.
