Madrid have made a sharp start to this second half. Luka Modric is the next to go close, curling just wide of the right-hand post from the edge of the area. Only a matter of time until Madrid score another if they keep this tempo up.

Ronaldo...free header...misses the target. Remember the date. To be fair to The World's Second Best Player, Luka Modric's right-wing corner was coming at a fair rate of knots. Ronaldo outjumped the static Villarreal defence, but was unable to keep his header down.

Sorry lads, I've gone a bit Geoff Shreeves on Branislav Ivanovic there. Florian Thauvin is Marseille's man of the moment, tucking in Steven Fletcher's pass to see off the Ligue 2 side.
