    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona make their first change and it's Sergi Roberto on for Dani Alves at right-back. Big-money summer signing right-back Aleix Vidal remains on the bench.

  2. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

This should definitely be game over as Lionel Messi finds Luis Suarez in space in the box but he shoots straight at Antonio Adan from 10 yards out. A real wasted chance from the Uruguayan.

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

It's almost a second goal for Barcelona and Lionel Messi plays a ball into the box, Neymar heads it across goal but Antonio Adan plucks it out of the air with Luis Suarez read to head home.

I've been doing this live text page non-stop from 14:30 BST and have only seen three La Liga goals. Sort it out Barcelona - and Betis. Sort. It. Out.

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

Dani Ceballos is a red card walking. Manager Juan Merino recognises this and replaces him with Francisco Portillo.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 69 mins

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

It's been a bit of a heated game and Dani Ceballos becomes the seventh player to go into the book, this time for a foul on Lionel Messi. The Real Betis teenager was lucky not to have already been booked.

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

    To paraphrase the IT Crowd...

The thing about Barcelona is, they always try to walk it in.

Neymar does well in the box but instead of shooting, he finds Luis Suarez, who also seems reluctant to have an effort.

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

A lot of nice passing around the penalty area by Barcelona but they don't seem to have their shooting boots on tonight. Nine shots but only two on target.

Luis Suarez would want to get a hurry on if he goes to extend his run of four-goal hauls. He's managed that in each of his last two games.

    Real Betis 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona looking fairly comfortable but could do with a second goal to seal this game. Lionel Messi has a go from around the penalty spot but it's deflected wide. And from the corner Luis Suarez misses another chance.

Real Betis bring off veteran winger Joaquin, and in his place comes on Charly Musonda - on loan from Chelsea, who must have confused Betis and Vitesse.

Barcelona lead after a defensive mix-up from Real Betis. Lionel Messi plays a high ball into the box and German Pezzella tries to bicycle kick it clear when keeper Antonio Adan is coming out to deal with it. The ball goes past the defender and the keeper, who seemed a bit reluctant to get a boot in the head, and Ivan Rakitic literally has an open goal to kick the ball into.

    Real Betis 0-0 Barcelona

Neymar plays in Luis Suarez, who is unmarked eight yards out. The man has scored eight goals in his previous two games so I think everyone watching is certain this is hitting the back of the net. However, the Uruguayan fires wide of the near post from close range.

    A huge let-off for Betis.

Barcelona come out attacking but Real Betis get the ball and break. Petros gets his pass wrong through and the chance is gone for the hosts.

Without meaning to exaggerate, Barcelona have 45 minutes to save their season. Can they do it against 10 men who have nothing to play for?

Intriguingly, Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was asked before this game if they should sign Francesco Totti, whom he managed at Roma.

The 39-year-old has scored 247 Serie A goals in 598 league appearances for Roma, his only club, but he is out of contract this summer and not certain to get a new deal.

“If we can get him at a good price, why not? He’s the embodiment of AS Roma.”

Maybe Barcelona could do with borrowing a striker or two from Limerick, who have netted 51 goals in their first 13 games of the season (they scored another after this tweet)...
