Brighton finished 15 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship table, but were forced to settle for a place in the play-offs after missing out on automatic promotion on the final day.

The Seagulls finished third behind Middlesbrough on goal difference, following a 1-1 draw at Boro last Saturday.

Albion boss Chris Hughton says his players were "distraught" after the game but need no extra motivation for the play-offs.

"I haven't had to do too much," the 57-year-old told BBC Sussex.

"The disappointment the lads showed after the game shows how close we have come, how motivated they are.
