Josh Brownhill tries his luck from way, way outside the box for Barnsley but his shot ends up in the stands.

  2. SUBSTITUTION (Millwall)published at 43 mins

    Barnsley 2-1 Millwall

Sam Winnall is OK but Millwall defender Joe Martin can't continue and the Lions are forced into a change.

Aiden O'Brien is coming on to replace him, which looks like it will see left-winger Shane Ferguson switch to left-back for Millwall.

    Barnsley 2-1 Millwall

Barnsley's Sam Winnall receives some treatment on the pitch after a clash of heads and arms as he jumped for a high ball, but he looks OK to continue.

Then Joe Martin is down, hurt. So we see the first real breather in an otherwise breathless first half.

If this game continues at this intensity, this pace, this urgency....well, we could see six or seven goals. That's not a stretch to imagine, on the evidence of the first 39 minutes.

Big goal, it maybe changes the psychology of the game and certainly gives the fans a lift. There was a little bit of fortune, but when you keep putting the ball in the box like they have done the past couple of minutes, anything can happen.

Millwall's confidence is restored and they win another corner but this time it comes to nothing.

It's been a belter of a game, so far, it really has.

GOAL - Barnsley 2-1 Millwallpublished at 34 mins

    Mark Beevers

Game on! Mark Beevers gives Millwall hope and we have a cracking match on our hands now.

A Lions' corner, aimed at Steve Morison, goes too deep but they keep it alive and it falls for Beevers in the box - he swivels and tucks in, left-footed.

The Barnsley-born defender has halved Barnsley's lead with his fifth goal of the season.

    Barnsley 2-0 Millwall

Millwall play some neat football and almost feed Lee Gregory on the edge of the area but Barnsley's Josh Scowen does very well to get a crucial foot in and clear the danger.

Millwall are just a little bit predictable at the minute, they're just playing a lot of diagonal balls on to Steve Morison. Certainly, Barnsley have the upper hand in midfield and going forward.

Shane Ferguson does well down Millwall's left but his cross is too close to Barnsley goalkeeper Adam Davies.

    Barnsley 2-0 Millwall

George Williams receives the first booking of the game for a late challenge on Millwall's Chris Taylor. No complaints there, that was poor.

    Barnsley 2-0 Millwall

Millwall's fans are furious as they think Lee Gregory has been fouled, but the referee gives a free-kick to Barnsley for Gregory's challenge on Conor Hourihane a split-second later.

Things aren't going the Lions' way so far.

Millwall send a deep cross towards Steve Morison but he is too far from goal and heads wide tamely. They'll need to pick him out much closer to the six-yard box.

    Barnsley 2-0 Millwall

    Rob Stevens
    BBC Sport at Wembley

"Neither manager has left their technical area since kick-off, with Barnsley interim boss Paul Heckingbottom and Millwall's Neil Harris both prowling and trying to encourage their sides.

"Harris was in a suit ahead of the game but raced down the tunnel after the national anthem to change into a tracksuit.

"He'll be very concerned by his side's start, falling behind by two goals so quickly. The Lions fans are stunned and quiet for the first time this afternoon, while Tykes fans are enjoying every minute."

He cuts inside, drops his shoulder and gives a little sidestep onto his right foot and runs 20 or 30 yards, but Millwall have got to get closer to him. It's a magnificent goal, very reminiscent of Mohammed Diame's yesterday for Hull.

    Adam Hammill

Take a bow, Adam Hammill. Mohamed Diame scored a beauty at Wembley yesterday for Hull, but this goal is even better!

The Barnsley man picks up the ball on the left, runs at the defence, cuts inside and curls a peach of a shot into the far top corner from 25 yards. It's simply outstanding. Unsaveable.

Barnsley are 2-0 up and Millwall have plenty to do now.

Well, if the early stages of yesterday's Championship play-off final were like a patient game of chess, this match has been more like a frenetic game of 'Hungry Hungry Hippos'.

Both sides have just one plan - attack.
