    Scunthorpe are sitting top currently as they lead Gillingham 3-0, while Junior Brown got Shrewsbury off the mark with their first goal of the season to equalise against Chesterfield.

    Charlton, Coventry and Oldham are also ahead in their games on the road.

    Stoke boss Mark Hughes told BBC Sport: "We were very much in it at 1-2. The penalties were key, especially the one that went against us in the first half when we were in the match. 

    "There’s a new directive as there often is at this time of the season, it went against us and knocked the wind out of our sails.

    "Our penalty probably would not have been given this time last year, but we got back into the game until that third goal took it away from us but I don’t think the score was a true reflection of the game."
