I was really disappointed to see Quique Sánchez Flores leave. He did well, Watford were flying.

When a manager has departed and he did well it is difficult.

I think it will be a difficult season for Watford.

    Watford 0-3 Arsenal

Some lovely, lovely football by Arsenal in the early stages of the second half.

After some one-touch exchanges, Theo Walcott has a go at goal but can only put his effort wide.

Alistair Wiseman: #Xhaka is looking a serious signing. Some of the balls he's pinging around are excellent. Give Giroud 45 now and he'll score.

BtheG: The understanding between Ozil and Alexis is amazing.

Paul lummis: I'm far from an Arsenal fan, but this first half has been an attacking masterclass...

When Alexis Sanchez gets into that area he's too clever for them. Mesut Ozil had a free header. I feel for Watford. They've been victims of an incorrect decision when Arsenal raced down the field to get a second goal.

The confidence drained out of them and now that will be even weaker.

    It's all going on here.

Heurelho Gomes makes a superb one-handed save to deny Theo Walcott but moments later, Arsenal do make it 3-0.

Mesut Ozil sends home a bullet header after some superb work down the left from Alexis Sanchez.

The whistle goes for half-time. It's going to be a long second half for the hosts.

"It's a shame for Watford. They were just playing their best football of the game."

    Alexis Sanchez

It was messy but they all count.

Theo Walcott sends an in-swinging ball across the box and it falls to Sanchez, who gets the ball caught under his heels and flicks it into the goal while falling over.

It doesn't hit the back of the net, but it's definitely been forced over the line. After initial hesitations, Sanchez celebrates his first goal of the season.

"I'm not sure what Kevin Friend was doing there. It was a very strange decision. Nordin Amrabat was free going along the by-line and had a great opportunity to get to the six-yard box and play the ball in for an on-rushing forward."

Now it's time for Arsenal to push forward again.

Alexis Sanchez weaves into the area and, after a one-two with Mesut Ozil, he tries to side-foot past Heurelho Gomes, but the keeper makes himself big to stop the effort.

Then Watford go on the break, and Nordin Amrabat finds himself at the byeline, but he's penalised for coming together with Laurent Koscielny.

Troy Deeney sends the ball across the penalty area from the left-hand side but it's blocked by the left cheek of Laurent Koscielny, who may find himself with a black eye after that.

Watford earn their first corner. Etienne Capoue whips it in, and Christian Kabasele rises high but can only head wide.

Nordin Amrabat continues to pester the Arsenal defence.

The Watford man gets the ball in the box and Odion Ighalo tries to control and shoot, but there's a mass of bodies in the way and it's eventually scrambled clear in a messy fashion.

    Watford 0-1 Arsenal

    Watford spring into life!

Nordin Amrabat whips the ball in from the right and Laurent Koscielny almost puts it into his own net, but luckily for Arsenal Petr Cech reacts quickly to palm it away.

  18. Chance for Arsenalpublished at 23 mins

    Watford 0-1 Arsenal

First corner of the match for Arsenal.

Santi Cazorla lines it up on the right and the ball ping-pongs about before being cleared.

Arsenal build up again. Alexis Sanchez slides to Cazorla and Theo Walcott tries to force it home, but the block is made by keeper Heurelho Gomes.

    Watford 0-1 Arsenal

Nacho Monreal and Theo Walcott are getting plenty of action down the left flank for Arsenal but it's not come to much so far.

In other news, there's really a lot of yellow tones on the pitch. Arsenal obviously fancied a change of strip today but their luminous socks and shoulder stripes are a bit of an eye sore against Watford's home kit.

See what you think on Match of the Day later. It's making me squint.

An early booking for Austrian defender Sebastian Prodl, after he clatters Theo Walcott.

Arsenal earn a free-kick about 35-yards out on the left, but it's headed away by the Watford defence.
