Good hit! Yannick Bolasie bends in a shot from wide on the left, plenty of dip and curve on it but Jordan Pickford is really strong to push it away from danger.
Gerard Deulofeu started that move with a bold run down the middle.

There were certain occasions in the first half when Ross Barkley's use of the ball was rather untidy. He might might have picked up an injury or a niggle, but there were occasions where his use of the ball could have been sharper and better.

Ross Barkley cannot have any complaints about getting replaced by ruthless Koeman. Spent the entire first half conceding possession.
Barkley lost possession 11 times in that first half.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Back under way. That change looks like Gerard Deulofeu on the right, Yala Bolasie on the left and now Kevin Mirallas behind Romelu Lukaku.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Gerard Deulofeu is on at the break for Everton, he replaces Ross Barkley.

Andy White: After that first half Ripper Street is the best option now. I can hear the howls of anger but I never much took to Cold Feet.
Daniel Woodley: That @SunderlandAFC, external vs @Everton, external was a half of two halves. Exciting the first. Boring the second
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Everton subs Gerard Deulofeu and Arouna Kone have been warming up particularly vigorously during the break. Change of shape from Ronald Koeman?

I've enjoyed it. It's a strange one because both managers will be happy. Both sides have had chances. I can't believe Jermain Defoe put his chance over the bar. Romelu Lukaku should also have done better with his chance. It's all to play for.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Sunderland have now failed to attempt a shot on target in the first half in each of their last three Premier League games.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Jermain Defoe could have scored, Romelu Lukaku should have scored.
Nobody scored.

Duncan Watmore goes down very, very easily. Yellow cards are the only way you are going to stamp things like that out. Gareth Barry actually came out of challenge and Watmore was anticipating it.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
This game is fading fast in terms of quality. Jan Kirchhoff hoofs it away downfield, nobody within 40 yards of it. Yannick Bolasie has switched wings and now laces a shot over from 30 yards.

Javel Bleach: This looks like a real clash of the mid-table giants. There should be a trophy for the most mid-table team of the season, no?
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Duncan Watmore drives forwards, Gareth Barry comes across and Watmore throws himself to the floor. Referee Mike Jones is having none of that though - he books the youngster for a dive.

I'm not sure if that was a shot or a cross. It was definitely a very good save because it was creeping under the bar.
Sunderland 0-0 Everton
Lynden Gooch whips in a dangerous ball from the left wing, it's going to fly straight into the corner, and Maarten Stekelenburg has to reach back and turn it over the top.
Sunderland then pose a real threat from the corner but the referee blows up for a foul in the middle.

Yannick Bolasie has impressed me. He gets the ball and gets one touch. His first thought is to flick it into path of Romelu Lukaku. You look at Lukaku and you always think there is a goal around the corner.

Yannick Bolasie flashes in another early cross - that's eight already just from him - but it's cleared away. The die may have been cast.
