Martin Armo: Why wasn't Cazorla taking that penalty?

Andrew Hook: Why didn't Cazorla take the pen? Another baffling decision by Arsene Wenger and his merry men!

Loveof Football: CAZORLA is the penalty taker why did Sanchez take that though? Really trying to be like Ronaldo

Jake Livermore handles in the area and is sent off after blocking Francis Coquelin's goal-bound shot. The referee points to the spot. But Eldin Jakupovic guesses correctly and saves Alexis Sanchez's low spot-kick diving to his right.

That could be a massive moment for Hull. The Tigers are down to 10 men and at 2-0 it would probably have been curtains.

Jakupovic might have been partially at fault for Arsenal's opening goal but he's redeemed himself since.

A rare meaningful forray into the Arsenal half from Hull gives them their first clear-cut chance of the afternoon. Abel Hernandez rolls the ball into the path of Robert Snodgrass and the Scotland striker strokes an effort at goal. Petr Cech is stationed in the right place, though, and gathers.

Relentless from the Gunners here. Alex Iwobi's shot brings a fine save out of Eldin Jakupovic with a low shot. Mesut Ozil latches on to the follow up but he is unable to hit the target and the ball ends up in the stands with the Hull fans. They might be advised to hang on to it for a few minutes to enable Mike Phelan to get them organised again.

The goalkeeper should have let it go from Theo Walcott's initial shot. It was an untidy goal to concede from a Hull City point of view.

Arsenal deserve to be in front but if you are going to concede then make sure it's a worldy. That wasn't a worldy.

This graphic shows the average positions of each player during the first 20 minutes at the KCOM Stadium.

Fair to say that Arsenal (on the right) are on the offensive, given that only three of their 10 outfield players are placed inside their own half.

Theo Walcott's cross-shot from the right is parried by Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic and into the path of Alex Iwobi. The Arsenal youngster pulls the trigger at the back post and his shot takes a deflection off Alexis Sanchez and goes into the net.

Iwobi celebrates but television replays show that Sanchez got the final touch. That's his fifth goal against Hull in as many matches.

The first flicker of a chance for the visitors. A neat passing move allows Theo Walcott to cross for Alexis Sanchez near the penalty spot. However, the Chile forward scoops his shot high into the stands much to the delight of the home fans.

Before kick-off at the KCOM Stadium there is a minute's applause for ex-Hull trainee Daniel Wilkinson, who died after collapsing during a match for non-league Shaw Lane on Monday.

Shaw Lane plan to "celebrate" the life of the 24-year-old defender during today's Northern Premier League First Division South game with Romulus.

As well as the tribute in this afternoon's programme, the South Yorkshire club will also name a stand at their ground in his honour.

"It will be an emotional day and we hope we can do Daniel proud," said Shaw Lane club secretary Dave Exley.

Former England defender on Final Score,

I don't think Mike Phelan is too concerned he has not been named permanent Hull boss yet. He is very good, very calm and he's probably relishing the situation. I hope they treat him seriously and offer him the same money as Steve Bruce.

Hull City were many people's favourites for relegation this season but have impressed under caretaker manager Mike Phelan.

Phelan was offered the job full time this week but reports , externalsuggest he is unhappy with the wages offered in the contract.

Former Hull City midfielder Kevin Kilbane: "I think Phelan feels undervalued after what he has achieved this season.

"The club has to back him after the start he has got. They have to show they mean business with him. If it is as we believe that he has been offered a very poor contract, it is poor on clubs behalf."

Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes reckon he's good enough., external And now it seems Hull City have finally agreed Mike Phelan is the right man to lead the Premier League new boys on a full-time basis.

The 53-year-old, caretaker boss since Steve Bruce's departure in July, was named Premier League manager of the month for August.

But, with a takeover of the club pending, Phelan's long-term future at the club has been uncertain.

"It's a case now of sifting through the offer and getting down to what hopefully will be further discussions," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
