"I can be happy with the attitude of the team because other teams would have lost five, six or 7-1. We were battling to the end."

"You see the reaction of the fans, they like it. The team is more aggressive but they need to run more and press more."

Everton boss Ronald Koeman, speaking to BT Sport: "Once again our start was not good. It was not aggressive enough, we were not pressing enough. We have really improved a lot physically and we've brought in a lot of players with energy. There is more belief, spirit and the team works well together. That's been the big difference in my opinion."

On midfielder Ross Barkley: "The reaction I got from him today was very good and that's the Barkley I expect. We know his qualities but sometimes in his football he is too sloppy and he loses easy balls. If he plays like he did today, we don't change him. He's not a young player anymore. He needs to take responsibility but he showed today that he is a very good player."

With 22 goals in five games today, the Match of the Day running order is a tough one.

No late drama at Goodison Park, but there was plenty at St Andrew's.

Birmingham City came from 1-0 down to take a 2-1 lead in stoppage time and beat Sheffield Wednesday.

Clayton Donaldson and Lukas Jutkiewicz secured victory for the hosts after Gary Hooper had put the Owls in front.

Everton move up to second in the table and it's a nice situation to be in. It's a professional job.

Everton are going to find it more difficult when the likes of Manchester City visit, but it's a great start by Ronald Koeman.

That's four successive league wins now for Everton, who are second in the Premier League and two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Of course the season is still in its infancy, but so far so good for new boss Ronald Koeman.

It's a second defeat in a row for Middlesbrough, who took the lead at Goodison Park but never really recovered from two quick goals before half-time.

Gareth Barry looks a bit perplexed as he's told he's being replaced.

Perhaps Everton manager Ronald Koeman wanted to treat the veteran midfielder to a standing ovation on his 600th Premier League appearance. Tom Cleverley is on.

Simply playing out time now. Everton have been good value for their impending victory.

Adam Forshaw gets a good round of applause from both sets of supporters as he comes off the field.

The Middlesbrough midfielder began his career at Everton. Adam Clayton is on.

It's been a much happier game for Ross Barkley, who was given the hook at half-time at Sunderland on Monday.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman wanted Barkley to keep the ball better - well he's attempted 41 passes in the match so far and he's been successful with 37 of them.

I'd say that's a decent ratio.

Gary Hooper has put Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 up at Birmingham with 15 minutes to go.
