Celtic manage to force a corner but Christie's delivery sails way over the bodies in the penalty area and out for a throw in. Rather sums up the first 25 minutes.

Celtic are in their new black away strip this evening. Scott Brown is back playing following injury problems towards the end of the season that saw him miss the Scotland friendlies in summer.

Celtic have plenty of good passers on the pitch like Nir Bitton, Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie, but the passes are going astray and the first touches are rather clumsy. How much is it down to the plastic pitch and how much is early season rustiness?

Leigh Griffiths managed to scamper down the flank but his right-footed cross flies out for a goal-kick.

Peter Bennett, Perth: Efe Ambrose is a liability it's time he left Celtic. It is ten men playing as a team.

Geoff, Flixton: In theory, how far are Lincoln Red Imps allowed to progress in the tournament with a 2000 capacity stadium and plastic pitch?

Another error from Efe Ambrose as he is dispossessed by Casciaro but the move fizzles out for the home side. Pat Bonner suggested earlier that Ambrose can put himself in the shop window for a move this evening but he is not having a great time of it thus far.

Celtic legend Pat Bonner tells BBC Radio Scotland listeners the commitment from the players of 'Lincoln Red Devils' is excellent. Another new nickname for the champions of Gibraltar!

Pat is spot on though. The home side not making life easy for Celtic at the moment.

You are correct Brendan. In the past two seasons Celtic have made it as far as the final qualifying round, but lost out to Maribor in 2014 and last year to Malmo.

Some eyebrows were raised when Efe Ambrose was named in the starting line-up, and he becomes the first man to booked after an ill-timed and frankly dangerous tackle. The kind of lapse the defender has unfortunately become associated with by some Celtic fans.

Celtic have had all the ball in the opening 10 minutes but have yet to create anything meaningful in the final third. Perhaps still adapting to the plastic pitch.

Sunday league footballers up and down the country will recognise the little black beads that are kicking up from the surface. Impossible to get out of your boots!

Huge shadows from the main stand engulf much of the plastic pitch in Gibraltar, which may not be helpful for the Celtic players in their all-black change strip.

Lincoln Red Imps v Celtic (19.00)

Other than their magnificent name, what do we know about Lincoln Red Imps? Well they have been crowned champions of Gibraltar 14 years in-a-row, and are the country's most successful club with 22 league titles overall.

The semi-professional side play at the 2,000-capacity Victoria Stadium, with around half this evening's crowd expected to be made up of Celtic fans.

They made it through to the second qualifying round after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Flora Tallinn of Estonia.

The club was founded in 1976, so can they mark their 40-year anniversary by pulling off what their captain Roy Chipolina said would be one of the greatest upsets in the history of European football?

Got withdrawal symptoms following the conclusion of Euro 2016? Fear not, Champions League football is back!

Of course Celtic will be dreaming of mixing it once again with the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich in Europe's premier club competition this season, but the road to the group stages starts in Gibraltar against the splendidly named Lincoln Red Imps.

This second round qualifier is Brendan Rodgers' first competitive match as Celtic manager having arrived to much fanfare back in May.
