If you're just joining us, England have been pretty awful, very awful in fact. But as it stands they are about to qualify.

A chance to finish the game for Germany...

Leroy Sane skips past Conor McLaughlin's challenge in the box, but blazes a left-footed shot wide of goal.

Finally, something for the home fans to cheer.

I am sat next to Chris Waddle and Phil Neville in the BBC commentary box at Wembley. They are just as frustrated as the fans inside the stadium. I do not think that Chris is impressed that paper airplanes being thrown from the upper tier onto the pitch are being cheered louder than the England team.

    Scotland 0-0 Slovakia

Scotland into the area again - Andy Robertson has a shot saved and Chris Martin then scissor kicks an effort through the six-yard box.

    Scotland have 12 minutes left...

    Crossbar.

Inches away from a Northern Ireland goal.

Josh Magennis does brilliantly to win the ball back and plays a nice pass into the area for Conor Washington.

The QPR striker turns past Jerome Boateng, sending the Bayern man on his backside, and with the goal looming large in front of him, he smacks an effort off the bar and over.

Needed a cute little curler there.

Just one point will cover Scotland, Slovenia and Slovakia if the scores stay like this. Scotland will still be in the hunt for a second-placed finish but they'll kick themselves if it stays goalless.

What have Scotland got to do here?!

First, Leigh Griffiths hits a wonderful free-kick against the crossbar and then Chris Martin's backheel plays in James Morrison, whose shot is brilliantly saved by Martin Dubravka!

    So, so unlucky...

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Germany

As England toil in reaching the 2018 World Cup - with their strongest side bar Dele Alli out at Wembley - Germany are doing the same with a second string.

The likes of Manuel Neuer, Jonas Hector, Benedikt Howedes, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Mario Gotze, Timo Werner, Andre Schurrle are not even involved in this squad.

    Frightening.

  12. Don't get bookedpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 5 October 2017

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Germany

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 live

Northern Ireland might still need to get something from their final group game in Norway to clinch a play-off spot which means Steven Davis, Jonny Evans and a few others have to be a bit careful they don't get booked in the remainder of this game or they'll be suspended for that Norway match.

Germany are well in control here though, cruising towards World Cup qualification, in fact it's very similar to the game in Hanover earlier in the group when they took a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes but never extended their advantage.

What's gone on here then? A Slovenia man goes down in a heap and there are accusing glances at John Stones. A head butt? Punch?

Nope. Stones just pushed him in the back that's all. Nothing doing, and no cards given.

Leigh Griffiths looks dangerous for Scotland, you can't accuse Gordon Strachan's men of a lack of attacking intent. Barry Bannan then gets free on the left, four or five men in the middle to aim at and his cross is behind everyone...

Toni Kroos, the German Paul Scholes, crossfield-balls galore and reaching their intended target each time.

But the Real Madrid midfielder's shooting radar is off, skying an effort into the stands from Julian Draxler's cutback.
