And as Shane Duffy no doubt sits quietly in a corner somewhere in the away dressing room at Cardiff, that's where we'll leave it for the evening.

Plenty of EFL action to talk about, so be sure to check out all our reports from tonight's games.

We'll be back with more action at the weekend. Until then....

  6. Wins for Bolton and Fleetwood in League Onepublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

It's all over in League One as well now, and the two sides who had the lead have held on.

Bolton go top of the table after maintaining their 100% record by winning 2-1 at Bristol Rovers, thanks to goals from Josh Vela and Jay Spearing.

And Fleetwood also have three points as David Ball and Ash Hunter were on target in their 2-0 win over Oxford.

    Cardiff 2-1 Blackburn

And the final whistle blows at Cardiff City Stadium.

The hosts get the win, but the night is all about Blackburn's Shane Duffy rather unfortunately.

Two own goals from the centre-back and then a second yellow card deep in added time as he tried to rescue a point.

Cardiff will probably care little as it means their first three points of the season.

  8. RED CARD Shane Duffy (Blackburn)published at 21:42 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

Oh no Shane Duffy! As if his night couldn't get any worse?

He's shown a second yellow card as he kicks the ball away after conceding a free-kick with Blackburn pushing for that second goal.

Red card comes out and he will take a slow walk off down the tunnel.

In case you weren't with us earlier, that red card adds to his two own goals in the first half.

    Barnsley 3-2 QPR

Grant Hall's dismissal was just about the last act at Oakwell as the final whistle blows.

After losing at Ipswich on the opening day, Barnsley have bounced back with back-to-back home wins over Derby and QPR.

By the sounds of things, the Barnsley fans are pretty chuffed.

    Quote Message

There is nothing more uplifting for Barnsley fans than to see their side show a lot of fight and skill. They have seen their side go 2-1 down but they have had the spirit to get back into it.

  11. RED CARD Grant Hall (QPR)published at 21:39 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

    Barnsley 3-2 QPR

Is that it for QPR? Grant Hall pulls down Stefan Payne and is shown a second yellow card.

Rangers, who led 2-1 at Oakwell, are going to finish with 10 men.

    Newcastle 4-1 Reading

All over at St James' Park and Newcastle have their first points of the Championship season.

It looked a bit dicey for Rafael Benitez at the break after Reading had equalised from the spot.

But, two goals in the second half from Dwight Gayle and a Matt Ritchie penalty saw them roar home.

Five minutes added on at Cardiff.

Nervy finish for Paul Trollope's side after they seemed in cruise control.

Fantastic second half at Oakwell and it looks like the hosts may have grabbed all three points.

Barnsley 3-2 QPR - Josh Scowen (89 mins)

It looks like QPR's unbeaten start is about to come to an end as Josh Scowen converts Stefan Payne's cross on the half-volley from inside the box.

    Quote Message

It's a great tactical decision from Paul Heckingbottom, taking off a centre forward in Marley Watkins, putting on a holding midfielder and letting Josh Scowen bomb on - and he has the goal.

GOALpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

    Newcastle 4-1 Reading - Gayle (89 mins)

Turning into a very comprehensive victory for Newcastle after that wobble before half-time.

Isaac Hayden, scorer of their opener, heavily involved in this one as he found space down the right.

He squared it inside to the area and it falls to Dwight Gayle for a second of the night and a close-range finish.

  17. Last few minutes in League Onepublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

We're into the final few minutes of our two games in League One and as it stands Bolton and Fleetwood are both on course for three points.

The Trotters still lead 2-1 at Bristol Rovers, who have just gone close through Jermaine Easter, while the Cod Army are easing towards a 2-0 win over Oxford.

Blackburn score with their first real opportunity as Danny Graham keeps his composure where Anthony Pilkington could not do so earlier. It's game on now, even though Blackburn have struggled.
