If England are to have some late success it'll come from the flanks. Overload the wings and get balls into the box. 

Get the ball out wide, get your overlaps working and get it crossed, because Slovakia are just hanging on here.

England with 24 crosses from open play today - in the last 13 games, only twice have England had more than 20 in a match, both times v Slovakia (26 at Euro 2016)  

I think John Stones might be England's best attacker. He jinks past three players before finding Adam Lallana - who shoots wide from 20-odd yards.

Lallana is yet to score for England. 

Theo Walcott plays in a great cross from the right but Daniel Sturridge can't stretch enough to reach it!

Wayne Rooney has a shot well blocked by one of the Slovakian back nine. It's defence v attack now all right. It has been for most of the evening.

England couldn't score in 90 minutes against Slovakia in France. It looks like that total will be up to 180 minutes...

That day off which Big Sam gave his players may not seem like such a good idea now. But a win is a win, and a goal in the next 12 minutes will render most of the debate about this display as pointless.

Even the draw will probably prove meaningless in the scheme of things. On paper after all, this is England's toughest group game. Don't tell Scotland that...

There's still plenty of time for England to get this goal, and one goal will win it. England are battering Slovakia.

But it's the basics, lads, the basics. The passing hasn't been good enough and the touches are woeful. You cannot expect to win games if you can't get your passes right.

As it stands. Lithuania are going top of England's group. They were 2-0 up against Slovenia but midfielder Rene Krhin, who plays his club football in Spain for Granada, has reduced the deficit to set up a grandstand finish. 

Off the post! Best moment of the night as Adam Lallana flashes a shot in on goal from the left of the penalty area and it blasts against the inside of the post! Really unlucky that time, as Theo Walcott fluffs the rebound.

The shot comes after good play from John Stones on the edge of the area. Stones playing where he wants now.
