I've just seen Ben Haim's goal for Israel against Italy.

    My word it's cheeky.

He's just hung Gianluigi Buffon, one of the greatest keepers to ever live, completely out to dry with a wonderful chip from the right side of the area.

    Italy lead 2-1.

Joe young: Ican already hear Zidane on the phone to the Welsh camp now telling them to get Bale off and wrap him up.

Dave Sommerville: Wales look comfortable now. We missed Ben Davies against Portugal in Euros - he's looking sharp tonight.

Martin MJ: We are smashing it! That said, Moldova look an absolute shambles!!!

  9. Contentment in Cardiffpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Wales 2-0 Moldova

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

There is a sense of contentment at half-time at Cardiff City Stadium.

While expecting a comfortable home win, Welsh fans were also prepared to wait for a first goal against spirited opponents.

As it was, they only had to wait 38 minutes for the opener, and the second followed swiftly afterwards.

Generations of failure mean Wales supporters are programmed to be pessimistic but this game is surely over already.

  10. Postpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Wales 2-0 Moldova

I mean, yes, Moldova have been poor. But what were we all expecting?

They've huffed and puffed and kept a decent shape. Sort of.

I didn't foresee them constructing beautiful tika-taka triangles or walloping any into the top corner from 35 yards.

  11. 'Wales can approach second half how they want'published at 20:39 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Wales 2-0 Moldova

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

We have relied on Gareth Bale in the past and tonight has been the same. He has come up trumps.

Wales can approach this second half however they want to.

This Moldovan team have been really woeful. They've not tried to get over the halfway line.

Barcelona's Ivan Rakitić converted from the spot, after Luka Modrić won the penalty, to put Croatia one up against Turkey in Zagreb before Hakan Çalhanoğlu equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Andriy Yarmolenko has equalised against Iceland for the Ukraine to draw 1-1.

Spain still lead Liechtenstein 1-0, while Italy are 2-1 up against Israel.

Finland are beating Kosovo 1-0 and Albania lead Macedonia 1-0.

    Wales 2-0 Moldova

Not vintage stuff from Wales against the world's 22nd biggest wine producer. But they've popped the cork and are well on their way to a straightforward win.

    Serbia 0-1 Republic of Ireland

The Republic lead at half-time following another escape as Newcastle striker Aleksander Mitrovic gets the ball stuck in his feet after Darren Randolph can only push out a Jagos Vukovic cross. That man Robbie Brady is the player who finally clears the danger.

It's been nervy stuff at times for the Irish but they have the advantage.

  16. 'Moldova have been a shambles'published at 20:33 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Wales 2-0 Moldova

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

    Great time to score.

The goalkeeper came flapping at the cross and it was a really, really good strike from Joe Allen because that was not easy to hit.

Moldova have been a shambles. They don't have great players but I don't know what their tactics are.

Even Andorra had a go when they came here.

  17. goal

GOAL - Wales 2-0 Moldovapublished at 44 mins

    Joe Allen

Coasting now Wales. Looking more like the Euros semi-finalists we know and love.

Gareth Bale wins a corner as his 25-yard effort is turned around the post.

Joe Ledley's set-piece is flapped away by Ilie Cebanu and Joe Allen meets it first time with a metronome of a right boot to rifle it in through a forest of legs.

    That's his first international goal.

    Serbia 0-1 Republic of Ireland

Serbian keeper Radkovic just about does enough to punch away a Jonathan Walters header after another good free-kick delivery by the impressive Robbie Brady.

Norwich man Brady is performing some tidy work in defence too as he charges back to cut out a potential Serbian break.
