    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Neil Taylor slips through the gears from left-back and cuts inside Moldova's Ion Jardan to get himself to the edge of the area - the final ball is lacking - but it gets the crowd going.

Here Wales come again, with Andy King whipping in from deep but Sam Vokes fouls the keeper going for the header.

    Serbia 0-1 Republic of Ireland

A lively start in Belgrade with the slippery conditions making life difficult for both sets of defenders.

Serbia had a immediate chance for a riposte after Hendrick's early goal but Filip Kostic failed to control at the vital moment.

Southampton's Dusan Tadic had another half-chance moments later but blasted way over.

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Best move so far for Wales.

Chris Gunter scorches down the right flank and sends in a lovely, low cut-back.

It eludes Sam Vokes, but finds Joe Ledley on the edge of the area - his first-time shot is straight at the keeper.

Chelsea's Diego Costa has given Spain the lead against Liechtenstein in Leon. The striker headed in Koke's free-kick for his second goal in 11 appearances.

Iceland were one of the breakout teams of Euro 2016 and they have made the best possible start in their attempts to reach a first World Cup.

Alfreð Finnbogason has given them the lead against the Ukraine in Kiev.

Suspect the Viking Thunder-Clap is in full force in Reykjavik right now.

Albania lead Macedonia thanks to Armando Sadiku's early goal.

  5. 'Some Wales players need tonight's game'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Some of the Wales players may be a little under-cooked as they haven't played in the league yet.

Some of them could do with this game tonight.

Neither Ben Davies nor Neil Taylor have featured for Tottenham or Swansea respectively in the league yet.

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Moldova giving away free-kicks like nobody's business.

And Alexandru Dedov gets himself in the book for not letting Gareth Bale take a quick on.

That means Bale can instead take a slow one - he has a pop from 30 yards. It's not troubling Ilie Cebanu.

At the other end, Joe Allen concedes a free-kick 25 yards out.

Radu Ginsari stands over it and opts for a floated, dinked affair towards the back post.

Floated, dinked affairs will be gobbled up all day by the Welsh defence all day - and that's exactly what they do.

  8. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Wales win a free-kick far out on the left flank, level with the edge of the area and Joe Allen swings it in deep.

Too deep, though, and Joe Ledley can't get near it.

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 8 mins

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Chris Gunter gets to the by-line in the Moldova area and Alexandru Dedov puts plenty of pressure on the right-back.

Gunter goes down - referee says nope, no penalty.

Moldova will look to make it really difficult for Wales and just sit in. They will be awkward to break down so patience is key.

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Moldova's Alexandru Dedov gets himself down the Wales right and Chris Gunter has to block his cross.

Andrei Cojocari then gets all excited 20 yards out, flashing at a dropping ball 20 yards out. High, wide, handsome etc.

    Hendrick (3 mins)

Great start for Martin O'Neil's side in a very wet Belgrade.

The home side fail to clear Robbie Brady's free-kick and Shane Long, after a rather scrappy few seconds, tees up Jeff Hendrick, who shoots from the edge of the box and gets a huge deflection off Branislav Ivanovic.

  13. Empty seats?published at 19:50 British Summer Time 5 September 2016

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

There are a few empty seats at Cardiff City Stadium, which is rare for Wales these days.

In terms of ticket sales, the game against Moldova was close to a sell-out.

But with the fixture falling on the Monday when children have gone back to school, several families who bought season tickets are thought to have been unable to attend this game.

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

Gareth Bale gets on the ball for the first time, picking it up in space on the right corner of the area. He tries to burst through four Moldovan players - but no dice.

    Wales 0-0 Moldova

From what I have gleaned about the Moldovan side, there's five midfielders and one forward in their staring XI, which will give you an idea of how they'll go about the game.

But you wouldn't expect anything different, would you?
