  1. Chin-stroking managerspublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

"Both managers have been problem solving. Paul Hartley has lost the goals and creativity of Kane Hemmings and Greg Stewart, while Mark Warburton is seeking the right balance in midfield. The Dundee manager is continuing with Rory Loy up front, while Rangers have opted for a central trio of Jordan Rossiter, Joey Barton and Andy Halliday. They will be the key decisions, since Dundee are at their strongest when they carry a goal threat, while the visitors need their midfield to take command of the game and support the front line as well as creat chances for them."

  2. Angry Archibaldpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald was outspoken earlier this week about his team having the weekend off because of Celtic playing a friendly against Inter Milan in Limerick.

Describing it as "a bit farcical", he said: “I think it’s disrespectful to the rest of the teams and it makes the league look poor, I don’t think it happens anywhere else.

“It’s not great to have a weekend off but it’s happened to us again. It would be better if we were all playing every Saturday."

  4. Two changes for Rangers, Dundee unchangedpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

Defender Clint Hill and midfielder Niko Kranjcar both drop to the bench for Rangers' match against Dundee. They're replaced in the starting 11 by Danny Wilson and Jordan Rossiter, while Harry Forrester comes into the team for the injured striker Martyn Waghorn. Dundee play the same starting 11 from their opening-day win over Ross County.

  5. Scots in English footballpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

If I remember correctly, the last time Scotland played there were no Scottish Premiership players in the starting line-up. With this in mind, my colleague Clive Lindsay has put his encyclopedic knowledge of football to good use by compiling a list of players eligible to feature for Gordon Strachan's national side who are currently playing in English football. Clive's piece is worth a read.

The sweeping lawn of Dundee's Dens Park is sporting a very impressive pattern for the visit of Rangers. It looks almost too good to play on.

  11. The Blues, Dark and Lightpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

Dundee made a cracking start to the league season a week ago with a 3-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall, while Rangers fought back to draw 1-1 with Hamilton Accies at Ibrox. It's a tricky-looking away fixture for Mark Warburton's men.
