Ipswich Town man-of-the-match Grant Ward told Sky Sports: "I think both sides will be satisfied. Norwich are a top side and will be pushing to go up so it's a good point."

Norwich City midfielder Wes Hoolahan added: "A sloppy goal killed our momentum and they were unlucky not to get three points but we'll take a good draw."

Ipswich shaded the game. Norwich hit the post through Whittaker but didn't do enough in forward areas.

Ipswich had more energy, they were more direct.

We want a winner in these games, but in the end, we've got an unsatisfactory draw.

So after a game which promised so much in a scintillating first half, delivered a little less than expecting in the second. Still, Ipswich fans may look to the early mistake from the officials to rule out Jonathan Douglas' goal for offside, but on the balance of play a draw is certainly right.

Jacob Murphy has the chance to win it late on for Norwich when he breaks through past the Ipswich defence but from a tight angle he fires a left-foot strike wide of the goal.

Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan tees himself up for a strike by Bartosz Bialkowski is behind that effort in the Ipswich goal.

Three minutes of injury time will be added on. Three minutes for a hero to be made. Three minutes for this Old Farm derby to become a classic, at least in Suffolk or Norfolk.

Mick McCarthy rolls that dice and it lands on a change to bring on Luke Varney for Freddie Sears. Like-for-like.

Freddie Sears has come to life in the closing stages of this game and wins a throw in for his side off Ryan Bennett when Grant Ward was waiting to slot it in.

Jonas Knudsen's long throw causes panic in the Norwich area and Michael McGovern makes a fine save to deny Teddy Bishop in a close-range one-on-one.

Are both teams happy to take a draw at Portman Road?

Cameron Jerome has some strapping on and is back onto the pitch. The only real threat to Norwich during the time he was off was a Daryl Murphy cross which was held by goalkeeper Michael McGovern.

It's not been blood and thunder in this second half, especially from Norwich. Ipswich have been the better side.

Cameron Jerome is currently off the pitch receiving treatment for a wrist injury and Norwich are down to 10 men temporarily with no real outlet.

Norwich make their final change of the day, bringing on Sergi Canos - a summer signing from Liverpool - comes on for Steven Naismith. Apart from one chance in the first half, Naismith has been very quiet.

Intensity of this match starting to ramp up a little bit now as Freddie Sears has a strike blocked for a corner and Teddy Bishop's corner is frantically cleared by Norwich defenders.

Jerome did well initially, and Whittaker elected to go for power rather than placement but hit the post.

Steven Whittaker would have been one of the last names you'd think to be up in the opposition penalty area, but after Cameron Jerome's low cross is cleared to the Norwich right-back, he smashes the ball against the base of the Ipswich post and it bounces away.

So close.

Freddie Sears has looked quiet this game, but he drives into the left-hand side of the Norwich area, cuts back and his strike is blocked by a number of bodies, including his own player.

Norwich win a corner after good work down the right by Jacob Murphy, but Wes Hoolahan can't get a cross to find a Norwich body in his numerous attempts.

Teddy Bishop, who missed virtually the whole of last season with injury, has come on for his fifth appearance of the season for Ipswich Town. He replaces Kevin Bru, whose set pieces have left a lot to be desired today.
